Discussion: Gov Accused Of Blackmailing Ex-Lover: What To Expect In Upcoming Trial

But your Honor,
When I tied her up, at her request, she would say thank you sir everytime when I spanked or slapped her.
I was only trying to help her improve her life. That is all.
The pictures were only taken to remind her of how far she has come with the improvement of her life. It is my job to help everyone and improve their lives to the best of my ability according to the oath of the office I represent.
I am innocent of these accusations and I am being forced though this because of fake news of a woman’s remorse for failing to improve herself and livelihood.
Something like that I presume. lol

I suppose it’s too much to hope that this extends to, say, October 15th.

Another fine representative of the “party of family values”. Don’t worry, folks, the Fundies are on it. They give all these people “mulligans”.

I am wondering a little whether any requests have been made to either Apple or to the ISP serving Greitens’s house for records of traffic during that period. Even if the photo itself couldn’t be recovered (which it might be), there are logs that could provide evidence one way or the other.

I think the Greitens indictments point to the blind spot in our judicial system on sexual assault cases. What Greitens did was rape (or attempted rape)mixed with other crimes of assault and crimes where people are held against their will (sexual assault, assault/battery, false imprisonment). He’s charged here with invasion of privacy. It doesn’t touch the worst of his behavior and it’s not what he could go to jail for. This is why we have the force of #metoo, because the judicial system is inadequately responding to the threat posed by misogyny and white male privilege.

I still can’t believe that the Republican legislature has decided to put all of them on trial with this impeachment. The Republican Party and Conservative Movement will never be the same by the time its over. They really thought Greitens (and the Koch Brothers) would step aside. None of them recognized how corrupt their own ideology has become.

Perhaps its the thrill of abusing this woman once more in a public shaming is what is really fueling this trial, as well as political payback from the Parsons wing of the state party? The one who deserves a true public shaming is Senator Jack Danforth. His legal firm is defending Greitens and the dirty politics he preached against just a mere two years ago after a friend was forced to take his life in another GOP scandal regarding an anti-Semitic campaign. .

It just goes on and on. There is no honor, integrity or substance left to vote for in the Republican Party. It’s all Roman circus and reality show BS. Caligula would have felt right at home.

Women need to start voting the only wedge issue that affects them everyday as well as the future of their granddaughters. Why does anyone care about all this Lee Atwater crap from 50 years ago that has proven not to be a real problem at all?

None of their fake issues from abortion to guns to the sanctity of marriage has ever been threatened by those they have scapegoated. It’s a fact. Abortion went down with birth control. Guns are more prevalent than ever. And gays appear to be the only ones serious about matrimony and building normal families.

All Americans will be under the thumb of the rich and powerful unless woman voters stand up to them in whatever ways they try to treat us like something less than human. It’s our responsibility as citizens in a democratic republic. We outnumber all other voters and we are the ones that children look up to when they feel nobody else cares.

Happy Mother’s Day, everyone.

Well, I think that’s why the Dems reluctantly decided to dump Franken (a more benign case, but he was a groper and he couldn’t promise Dems that there was a limit to the number of incidents they would need to defend). It was a political play to get over 60% of the female vote. The Democratic Party is the party for those seeking gender and racial equality and an end to the bias of white male privilege in the administration of justice and public policy. That’s our brand.

The governor’s gross abuse of his mistress is in perfect harmony with the bible; women are abused, degraded, beaten, marginalized, silenced and raped. It’s all part of the systematic attack on women in an effort to maintain male dominance and power. If anyone looks to the bible for some sort of repudiation of what Greitens did, forget it. The bible is a misogynist’s handbook. Sick as it is, treating women like dirt is exactly in accordance with the family values found in the most holy bible. But, let’s not get distracted by facts.

Some of it is the official side of the judicial system, but I’m afraid a lot of it is the juries (or at least prosecutors’ perceptions of juries). As long as you have jurors who don’t want to spoil rapists’ lives or who think that consent is universal and irrevocable – OK, basically jurors who hate women – then you’re going to get prosecutors going for other crimes they think they have a better chance of convicting for.

Which is why #metoo and a lot of other stuff.

The absence of photographic evidence is hardly the end of the world for the prosecution. I can obviously blackmail someone even if I’m not in possession of the relevant embarrassing material, so long as I induce my victim to believe that I possess it.

I fully expect Governor 50 Shades Of Kink to get away with it because RepubliKKKlans are above the law.

I do not believe that Franken did any of that groping.

Roger Stone and the ratfuckers hard at work destroying viable Democrats.

As far as the photo in poor taste of a sleeping Tweeden. Well, poor taste. But when you look as Youtube videos of Tweeden on that tour, its easy to see that there was raunchy fun for all. No negative judgements there.

My negative judgement of Tweeden derives from her right wing politics and willingness to wreck Franken.

Yes, Right Wingers Above the Law would be quite a long list midway through 2018.

He’ll be ‘vindicated,’ he won’t resign, the legislature will continue to wreck the state, Democrats might gain a little, temporarily. This is Missouri.

But but but Danforth is a MINISTER as well. Why, he’s the guy who brought us Clarence Thomas! But every time you see him he just ‘reeks’ of probity.
