“Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) — who resigned as a police officer over his excessive use of force, and made false statements during an internal investigation — cited the Bible while chastising Cohen for his lack of credibility.”

The poster child for today’s GOP.

“The lies that I told to Congress, in fairness, benefited Mr. Trump,” Cohen said at one point.

He should have repeated that line every single time one of the Goopers called him a liar.

If Trump had done nothing wrong, Cohen would have never needed to lie.

The ‘what polls?’ exchange in 2016 on CNN was the first time I ever saw Michael Cohen. At that time, I have no doubt that Cohen would have taken a bullet for tRump and then asked if he could do it again. Just look at him! That is not the Michael Cohen that we saw today, and it’s all becuase tRump was stupid enough to throw Cohen under a bus. Cohen would have gladly taken tRump’s secrets to the grave (or to prison, as the case may be) if only tRump had shown a shred of loyalty. tRump is an effin’ doofus.

Who is more dangerous: MS-13 or BS-45 ? It’s not a trick question!

"Informed he didn’t “know truth from falsehood,” Cohen cracked, “Are you referring to me or the President?”

I love this

“…and that he (Cohen) had no reason to believe the “pee tape” of Trump cavorting with prostitutes in a Moscow hotel room existed.”

They could have shopped around for the Pee Pee tape and offered all the money they had for it and still never gotten it from the Russians. Vlad doesn’t need their chump change and it’s far more valuable to keep it handy.
Duh…

I dunno, but the Bible has tons of verifiable bullshit, not sure why bringing it up when discussing credibility.

One of the better lines today was from Cong. Jamie Raskin (D-Md) “Our (GOP) colleagues aren’t upset because you lied to Congress for the president,” Raskin said. “They’re upset because you’ve stopped lying to Congress for the president.”

The Republicans are really desperate to keep facts from coming to light about Trump…all that does is tie them to him more, and set up a brutal conflagration when the Mueller report comes out and illuminates what really happened. If (and it is still an if, for now) that report is as damning as it appears it will be, then the Republicans will have truly shot themselves in the foot. The real question is why they are so desperate…if the political math was normal they should be retreating from Trump, not holding him closer, and definitely not trying to defend him like this. Cohen did what he did for Trump, at Trump’s orders, and that should make Trump radioactive.

I know, it’s fear of the base turning away and leaving Republicans without the votes they need (which will happen anyways as the Trump supporters die off), but this all just makes no sense as a strategy. One day we’ll know why they are walking the plank for Trump.

It’s clear now that the end of Trump and his dynasty will come via the SDNY. And sooner, rather than later.

The lone Republican who pushed Cohen on substantive points was Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI), who asked about Trump’s habit of communicating with his associates in code and why Trump would hire Cohen given his “bad character.”

That very legitimate question was what undercut all of his Republican colleagues’ finger-pointing, sign-waving political theater.

Yes, this really stood out. I had to check his party affiliation whenever his name appeared on the screen. The other GOP committee members were predictably worthless while doing their multiple “Unanimous Consent” sideshows.

Meadows having a sads over MS Talib’s remarks was pretty funny also. Cummings handled that one with characteristic dignity and resolve.

Considering all of the people convicted around Trump, calling Cohen a liar is hardly a defense. It just shows the character of Trump.
