The RNC is predicting Hurricane Mueller to be a Class 5 shitstorm, and they are running for coverâŚ
âGOPers Dismissed Bills To Protect Mueller Last Year. They Still Face Long OddsâŚâ
The Night of the Long Odds.
Well, in their defense they were very busy trying to repeal Obamacare for the 80th hundred time! s/
Does âTheyâ in the headline refer to the GOP? Why would they face long odds? They are the majority. No one is stopping them.
âIn fact, the president and his administration have spoken favorably of Special Counsel Muellerâs professionalism and integrity, and recent reports indicate the investigation may soon come to an end.â
Uh-huh. Those âreportsâ were targetted at donnie - didnât expect anyone else to be stupid enough to beleive them.
âLa plus belle des ruses du diable est de vous persuader quâil nâexiste pas." (âThe devilâs finest trick is to persuade you that he does not exist.â)â â Charles Baudelaire, Paris Spleen
Trump GOP Congress logic: why make murder illegal if no one has been killed yet?
Republicans are fools not to back these bills and pass them ASAP. Itâs time to put a little breathing room between the party and Trump, if the party is to have any future
Then again, they were fools to nominate him, soâŚ
So Trump is going to try persuading us he doesnât exist?
They donât dare until after primary season â otherwise theyâll be challenged by Trumpâs base.
Fox Newsâ Sean Hannity at first questioned the New York Timesâ reporting, but when his own network confirmed the story, he argued that Trump had the right to question Muellerâs credibility.
Now from Erik Wemp;e of the Washington Post, we have documentation of Sean Hannity last JUNE, providing Media cover for some of Trumpâs eventual pretexts for ordering Muellerâs firing. If I am not mistaken, Newt Gingrich actually ran a WaPo Op Ed and appeared on Television at around the same time to promote the Mueller conflicts of interest and needs to be fired talking points/pretexts.
This surprised me too, the suicidal recklessness and failure to see the obvious end. But theyâve spent decades chasing anyone with integrity, common sense, public-spiritedness, or bravery out of the party. Theyâre all cowards, bootlicks and time-servers now. They know how itâs going to go. But theyâre cowering in a mass, each one thinking that when the end comes heâll slip out a back door and get away.
How wonderful the day will be when we no longer have to look at McConnellâs face, that little smirk, the frog chin ⌠god, I will rejoice. Weâve had to look at it for so goddamn long.
In response to why they havenât passed these bills, I suspect that they know theyâve got nothing - absolutely zero - in terms of message, brand, anything at all positive. Why no one has followed Jeff Flake has remained a mystery to me - theyâd be prime presidential material for 2020.
The GOPers are being complicit because the Russian bots are on their side!
As long as they cooperate, they will receive the benefits of what damage the Russia bots will do to our country every single day!
Our childrenâs futures are at risk folks!!!
So when Trump actually does fire Mueller, and Iâm guessing he will within the next two to three months (just going with the gut!) what will actually happen?
The media will bewail a âConstitutional Crisis-OMGâ but what will actually happen? Will The GOP House start impeachment proceedings? Will Trumpâs Cabinet resign en masse, or in any numbers? Will the Military remove Trump from office?
I mean really, he can legally fire him I guess so if he does, and everybody knows itâs wrong, but will they actually do anything about it? Will the Democrats in Congress take action besides no votes and strongly worded letters? Will the media hue and cry make a difference?
I think nothing happens and then if we are lucky enough to have an election in November itâs 50/50 whether the Democrats take over by a landslide, or the GOP/Trump Putinize it and finish off democracy once and for all.
Weâre counting on Republicans to do something hard and non corporately incentivized, and morally right here, after all, so what are the chances of the party of Mitch âSupreme Thiefâ McConnell and Paul âChild Molester Rules Ruleâ Ryan after all.
âIn fact, the president and his administration have spoken favorably of Special Counsel Muellerâs professionalism and integrity, and recent reports indicate the investigation may soon come to an end.â
Sen. Thom Tillisâ (R-NC) spokesperson Daniel Keylin continued, âSen. Tillis believes that President Trump is the kindest, warmest, bravest, most wonderful human being heâs ever known in his life. Thereâs really no reason for all this hullabaloo.â
Theyâre crazy entitled evil old men, to be sure, but itâs not clear the party has a future (as anything like a conventional political party) in any case. If they put daylight between the party and trump, they also put daylight between the party and the 25% deadenders. Who will either primary them, stay home, or start turning violent.
And given the NRA investigations and the possibility of other cutouts for Putin, some of them may be hedging their bets about whether there will come a point when they want Mueller fired.
OT: But TPM has had nothing about the Steve Wynn scandal. He is the RNC finance chair and a friend of POTUS. I do note that there is a piece up on someone Hilary would not fire due to harassment allegations.
We spent days on Weinstein and Al Franken. Franken was eviscerated and resigned from the Senate over allegations. Wynn gets to skate? Why?
As of Friday afternoon, Republicans in Congress were not exactly rushing to promote legislation protecting the special counsel, even as their Democratic colleagues urged them to do so.
Theyâre far more interested in protecting tRumps talks with Putin
