Discussion: GOPer: If Trump Doesn't Turn Over Tapes I'd Be 'Fine' With Issuing A Subpoena

I no longer pay attention to anything Collins says anymore. She is a cheerleader for Trump unless she isn’t. She pretends to be a moderate when she isn’t.

Trump’s people will tell anyone asking for any “tapes” the same thing They told the Secret Service when they came to talk about His threats against Katie Tur. Namely, whatever He says or tweets in the political sphere is protected speech under the First Amendment, and how He expresses Himself is not an issue subject to any review.

The problem with Trump’s tapes is that he never outright confirmed to having them, so even if he did record the conversations, he could burn them and then use plausible deniability to say they never existed, because unlike everyone else. There isn’t a witness to contradict his version of events. And since we, unlike Republicans, follow the rule of law, you can’t just say a pathological liar is lying because he’s saying something you disagree with. You need proof.

As a betting man, I’d go with Trump just bullshitting in an attempt to intimidate Comey into silence since Trump didn’t know Comey kept memos when he made the threat. So Trump is now using the idea that tapes might exist as a shiny object to distract people.

It’s not only easy it’s downright convenient to be fine with issuing a subpoena when you can’t do it anyway. Only Burr can issue one. I’m sure he’ll get right on that but right now he’s busy providing cover for the Ku Klux Elf by having him testify in a closed hearing.

One bullshit whitewash at a time, Ms. Collins.

Shhhh. They’ll hear you. Actually she votes against Republican interests more often than some Democrats do:

State	Party Name Rank Score	Lifetime
OH R	Portman, Rob 52	40%	69%
ND D	Heitkamp, Heidi 53	30%	13%
WV D	Manchin, Joe, III	54	26%	21%
ME R	Collins, Susan M.	55	24%	35%

Personally, I believe this RINO and DINO shit is what is killing American democracy. It depends on cooperation, just like our survival as a species does.

All of our legislators used to understand that that was how things are - it’s a blend. Now we have this ridiculous partisan divide that keeps pushing us further apart.

This isn’t good for democracy. I’m talking about the actual survival of our form of government.

"and I don’t understand why the President just doesn’t clear this matter up once and for all.”

Ah for the photoshop skills. A little green ichor, dripping off the letters.

That’s why it is so interesting to watch this shitshow. All these politicians want to be on the winning side, but they haven’t worked out what side that is yet, so they play to both sides and the middle. Her highest priority is herself and staying in her position of power.

Democrats kept trying to push your ‘try to work for the common good’ you’re talking about.

What has it gotten them? Out of power and it forced them to march towards the right on policies with an endless stream of concessions while the Republicans at worst, didn’t lose anything. And then there’s the fact that Republicans routinely kick the Democrats teeth in even whenever the Dems try to act conciliatory or want to act in the country’s best interest. (Never forget 2002.)

War is politics by other means, but never forget that politics is still war even if there is no bloodshed. Republicans learned this early on and have been purging the ‘undesirables’ from their party to the point where they are now extreme right and keep their eye on the prize even if it means abetting treason (See Trump). This was enable by the democrats who kept making concessions with them to get bad deals done instead of drawing the line in the sand and saying ‘no’ decades ago. At this point, it’s not insulting to call Democrats who are willing to work with Republicans who aren’t willing to put actual concessions on the table (not, we won’t start by gutting the social safety net.), what they are, appeasers. And appeasement doesn’t work.

‘if they go low, we go high’ Michelle Obama famously said. I prefer Bill Maher’s version ‘If they go low, kick them in the nuts.’

As in all other things, she’ll be fine with it until it’s actually time to do it.

Now I know why you are so completely wrong about everything.

Pure, unadulterated blather, unless Sen. Collins does something to bring about a subpoena.

And that’s why you keep losing.

Yet when you look at the lifetime “scores” in your comment, the two so-called “DINO” senators don’t vote with the right-wing agenda as often as Collins does.

This also proves that any Democrat is superior to any Republican when push comes to shove.

OT: Time Trounces Turmeric Terror

Although last week’s Time cover didn’t feature his likeness, I suspect he framed it nonetheless.

After all, it’s well documented he frames every magazine cover on which he appears. He hangs them in his office for all to see. I hope the cover of next week’s Time is no exception.

Fun Fact: He takes great pride in telling everyone that he’s been on the cover of Time more than anyone else … even though that, too, is a lie.

Hi, Beej!!

Flagged.

Now that we know he’s been flagged, don’t add to the count and get the thread shut down.
