Discussion for article #228939
I will never understand this point of view about the ACA. What is so wrong about creating a system that allows people to buy health insurance when it is not otherwise available to them? Not all places of employment offer health insurance and the independent market had too many restrictions for many people to obtain decent health insurance.
Ernst added that āitās going to take a lot of education to get people out of that. Itās going to be very painful and we know that.ā
So is she proposing we start funding education camps? Would the big 'ol bad Gubmint pay for them?
By a āgeneration of peopleā she obviously means corporations and big banks, who could not survive without massive government handouts.
A āgeneration of peopleā?
Why is she talking about the crop subsidy dependent farmers of Iowa?
No, this will be part of this semesterās home schooling curriculum. Weāve got this all figured out!
And that entire generation resides in the welfare state of Iowa.
Yes, spoken like a member of the military, who rely on the government for food, for housing, for health care, retirement, etcā¦
And like Iowa farmers who want their trough slopped every 5 minutes with taxpayer dollars.
And of course for Senators who also ride the government gravy train.
What is she running for again?
You mean my grandparentsā generation (aka āthe greatest generationā)? They certainly have gotten a lot more from the government than my generation ever will.
Bravo!
But, you can bet one thing - she wasnāt talking about farmers.
Ernst- we rely upon the government to build our roads, build bridges, dispose of trash, police our streets, fight our fires, educate our children.
However, since you hate the government so much I hereby propose that we put a toll booth in front of your house so you can pay for the upkeep of our roads. You can pay a standard fee for electricity to be provided, and your food to be inspected, and your kids wonāt go to school and the police wonāt come round your house or the fire department unless you fork over thousands of dollars for each visit.
Find out what life is like without a government.
Bingo. Do you think some of those people will squirm just a wee bit?
Probably not, since they ādeserveā it.
The vast majority of farms in this country are owned and/or run by corporations. So of course, they love their Government subsidies.
If Iowans put this jackass in the Senate, theyāll earn a whole new motto for their state: Iowa - Heartland of The Stupid.
Which generation is she talking about? she said āa whole generationā soā¦ which one?
And it sounds as if she is advocating a great deal of money for education which contrary to what republicans want.
Seems to be word salad to me.
Iāve got to pay more attention to whatās going on in the world. I wonder what the hell Iām doing here at the office when, apparently, I can just get everything from the government. I currently need a tank of gas, plane tickets for an upcoming trip, and new headphones. Can I get all that from one agency, or do I need a separate application for each thing Iād like them to provide?
I was going to get regular headphones, but if the government is going to pay for them, Iāll go for the noise cancelling ones, please.
Ernst replacing Harkin?
That would be a huge pendulum swing.
Iowa state Sen. Joni Ernst, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in
her state, argued a whole generation of people relies on government for
āabsolutely everythingā and added that it would take āa lot of
educationā to cut people off of that dependency.
Studies show that Democrats tend to be better educated than Republicans, so I guess we know who needs the education and the dependency weaning.
If Ernst hates government so muchā¦ why is she so determined to be part of it?
Obamabeats! ā¢
