Moronic base may elect moronic & hypocritical Senator. Film at 11.
The candidates have a key debate Tuesday night. “The big question is can we get through the debate on Tuesday night? It’s all about whether we can get through the debate without saying anything that makes it worse.”
So … the plan is to avoid sounding like a slack jawed yokel. Good plan, only one problem:
Is there an actual poll supporting all this “worry”?
I’m thinking that the Republicans’ blatantly racist campaign modality was mildly hurtful to them in the South this year. They had to turn the voter suppression machine up to “11” to closely win races that they would ordinarily easily win with their usual array of racial dog whistles. Not that there’s necessarily been a great raising of consciousness in Mississippi.
I’m thinking that running a campaign like it’s 1958 is inadvisable anywhere. Telling the voters in effect, “I know that you are a racist yahoo with an IQ of 90—so vote for me!” Doesn’t go over too well.
I think the GOP is pretending here.
They know the overt racism being employed is an electoral winner in Mississippi.
They just want to appear concerned.
Racist idiot who cant string a coherent sentence together?
Puts both feet in mouth at every opportunity?
That’s why shes so popular with 'Merikuns
Abso-damn-tively.
Missteps? Gaffes? Really? So polite! It’s racism plain and simple. Not an oopsie moment, aren’t I just the silliest thing!? They are comments revealing her bias. Say it like it is, please. This is not a time to be prissy.
She’s still defending her hanging quote, saying it was simply a way to illustrate her high regard. I wonder what she writes in letters of recommendation. And she says her suppression statement was merely a joke. I bet she has some real knee slappers about people dying from lack of medical care.
I have a reasonably good sense of humor and many friends from both sides of the aisle (some were moderate Reps) with even better ones. I have yet to hear one of them now or at any time in the past make any statement for any purpose that is comparable to hers.
I doubt her comments will encourage many Republicans to vote for Espy but a lot of them may just stay home and not vote, which will give him more of a chance to win. Fingers crossed.
I’ve been mildly, pleasantly surprised at the pushback against the blatant “You’re going to love this because you’re a screaming racist” approach. Where I reside, it has been looking in recent years like, yes, they’re going to love it if it is racist, praise Jesus.
She hasn’t clarified yet by saying that she would only attend “legitimate lynchings”?
Slow learner!
Flattery works in Mississippi.
WLBT.com will stream the debate if anyone is interested, at 7P CST.
Not much has changed. Still miss you, Phil.
Here’s to the State of Mississippi
- Phil Ochs
Here’s to the state of Mississippi,
For Underheath her borders, the devil draws no lines,
If you drag her muddy river, nameless bodies you will find.
whoa the fat trees of the forest have hid a thousand crimes,
the calender is lyin’ when it reads the present time.
Whoa here’s to the land you’ve torn out the heart of,
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of!
And here’s to the people of Mississippi
Who say the folks up north, they just don’t understand
And they tremble in their shadows at the thunder of the Klan
The sweating of their souls can’t wash the blood from off their hands
They smile and shrug their shoulders at the murder of a man
Oh, here’s to the land you’ve torn out the heart of
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of
And here’s to the schools of Mississippi
Where they’re teaching all the children that they don’t have to care
All the rudiments of hatred are present everywhere
And every single classroom is a factory of despair
There’s nobody learning such a foreign word as fair
Oh, here’s to the land you’ve torn out the heart of
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of!
And here’s to the cops of Mississippi
They’re chewing their tobacco as they lock the prison door
Their bellies bounce inside them when they knock you to the floor
No they don’t like taking prisoners in their private little war
Behind their broken badges there are murderers and more
Oh, here’s to the land you’ve torn out the heart of
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of!
And, here’s to the judges of Mississippi
Who wear the robe of honor as they crawl into the court
They’re guarding all the bastions of their phony legal fort
Oh, justice is a stranger when the prisoners report
When the black man stands accused the trial is always short
Oh, here’s to the land you’ve torn out the heart of
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of!
And here’s to the government of Mississippi
In the swamp of their bureaucracy they’re always bogging down
And criminals are posing as the mayors of the towns
And they hope that no one sees the sights and no one hears the sounds
And the speeches of the governor are the ravings of a clown
Oh, here’s to the land you’ve torn out the heart of
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of!
And here’s to the laws of Mississippi
Congressmen will gather in a circus of delay
While the Constitution is drowning in an ocean of decay
Unwed mothers should be sterilized, I’ve even heard them say
Yes, corruption can be classic in the Mississippi way
Oh, here’s to the land you’ve torn out the heart of
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of!
And here’s to the churches of Mississippi
Where the cross, once made of silver, now is caked with rust
And the Sunday morning sermons pander to their lust
The fallen face of Jesus is choking in the dust
Heaven only knows in which God they can trust
Oh, here’s to the land you’ve torn out the heart of
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of
She hasn’t brought her bullwhip out on stage. Yet. That shows real restraint on her part.
After the Kemp, Desantis, and Scott wins I don’t have high expectations from the white voters of Mississippi but I sure hope they surprise me.
Her inner ugliness really shines through on this one, doesn’t it?
I hope Mississippi surprises me, but I doubt they will.
She is what happens when siblings marry each other.
