She said later: “There’s no reason why the individual mandate provision can’t be struck down, and keep all of the good provisions of the Affordable Care Act.”
In a separate interview Sunday with Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), CNN’s Jake Tapper asked whether the senator agreed with President Donald Trump, who called O’Connor’s ruling “great.”
“I don’t,” Collins responded, quickly adding: “First of all, I would point out that this ruling is not going to affect people who are currently enrolled or in Obamacare policies, or their policies for 2019.”
The GOP is certainly the party of cognitive dissonance.
You can hear a little desperation from the Republicans…if Obamacare goes down, they know that they lose, and there is no way they can tie it to the Democrats or try to shift the blame elsewhere. And they deserve to feel that way, they fought against Obamacare because they thought they could win politically while getting away with putting people’s health in jeopardy to give money to their donors, so having it come around and bite them is truly justice served.
The GOP supports this there won’t be a Republican member of the Senate left to sniffle.
Collins is a first class moron.
Hey GOPers why don’t you take advantage of the ruling and kill it dead, like you been promising for the last 8 years. Then you can go and and implement the plan that Trump promised in the campaign, that was going to be cheaper and with better coverage. If you can pull that off I will take back everything I’ve said about you.
Just realised that while she doesn’t have any intention in using it, she never mentioned that ACA ‘card’ (promise) that she got from McConnell.
Correction: Collins is a first class skunk. The constituents who keep sending her back to DC to pretend that she is a moderate are the morons.
The same world class morons that elected Paul LePage governors. They ought let the moose (meese?) vote, raise the electorate IQ a bit.
Frankly, I would not trust Barrasso’s observations any further than I could throw him, and as usual, Colin’s predictions seem to come, as they always seem to, from “la la land,”
LePage, at least, was in part a quirk of a three way race. Maine seems to have corrected that issue by implementing the instant runoff. For Collins, her act became transparent a long time ago, and any reason to continue to support her should have vanished along with it. There is no good excuse for her long reign in the Senate from a state that clearly should know better.
“Health care clearly matters to people,”
Brilliant.
If you made what “people” made, and if you got the health care “people” got, it would f°(#ing matter to you too, Sen. Blunt.
Note to GOP- “Be careful what you wish for; you may get it”
Collins: “[T]his ruling is not going to affect people who are currently enrolled or in Obamacare policies, or their policies for 2019.”
Collins added: “But, if your preexisting condition lasts into 2020, you are dead meat.”
Collins keeps promising her constituents that she will protect them from bad Republican policies, and she keeps reneging on those promises.
Time for a change… in 2020.
If you think about it the Democrats have a chance to deal with immigration and health care the next two years. The Republican house was the hot bed of anti-Obamacare and bitterly opposed immigration reform. I suspect Trump will be looking for wins as will McConnell. Something like a workable Obamacare (called Trumpcare ugg) and an immigration reform package with something that Trump can sell as a wall might be doable in 2019. Of course, Trump can screw up anything.
As to the individual mandate there was a debate between Obama and Hillary. It isn’t really a total deal breaker, but without the individual mandate it will be more expensive, maybe a lot more expensive.
Activist Judges are life support for the GOP.
Let’s call it Pelosicare.
If he’s looking for a “win”, that’s what he’ll have to take.
