This vote will identify the out and out traitors in the Senate. Lindsey and McConnell are at the top of the list.
Bears repeating.
If 11 Republicans votes for it and there were 57 votes total, it sounds as if one Democrat voted against. Which one?
Geez, what does Trump do? Side with U.S. interests, or billionaire Russian oligarchs? This is a real mystery.
I would like to see the intersection of this list with the ones that took a trip to Russia.
I started to look. That list includes Rand Paul, Steve Daines, John Hoeven, Ron Johnson, John Kennedy, Jerry Moran and John Thune, and Rep. Kay Granger. I think there are others I am missing.
Interestingly, Kennedy and Daines voted for it. Not sure what to make of it, but it is interesting.
In addition to Collins, of Maine, the Republican senators voting with Democrats were John Boozman of Arkansas, Tom Cotton of Arkansas, Steve Daines of Montana, Cory Gardner of Colorado, John Kennedy of Louisiana, Martha McSally of Arizona, Josh Hawley of Missouri, Marco Rubio of Florida, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Jerry Moran of Kansas.
Looks like imagined Trump foil Mittens Romney jumped into the fold with both feet. Mitt’s first stand is all in with Trump. Romney detractors take note- Mitt is still a fraud.
Time is overdue they rein Mnuchin in. His ties to Blavatnik through their company RATPAC entertainment, and who has ties to Deripaska, has been known for some time.
Dallas Morning News reported on these connections quite awhile ago and still so little about how all that money helped to finance so many campaigns throughout 2016 with PAC money to the GOP. Not to mention that Mnuchin was in charge of handling tRump’s incoming donations as he was his National Finance Chairman. I hope Mueller has taken a good look at this thief. The guy is in charge of our Treasury for shit’s sake.
I do wish Rachel Maddow did an entire show on this stuff. It always seemed so relevant when it comes to the corruption in our government.
At the time, I read that Richard Shelby went and not Rand Paul. Over the July 4 holiday, no less. There were 8 in all. I remember that because it reminded me of Santa’s reindeer.
These pols were not here doing things patriotic,
But in Moscow at Trump’s bidding—how idiotic!
There were eight, I am told, Republicans all.
For history’s sake, let’s do a roll call.
Kay Granger, plus Senators Shelby and Daines,
Kennedy, Hoeven and Thune also named.
Moran and Ron Johnson will round out the set.
All of them now Putin’s marionettes.
fify
This is a potemkin vote, solely to give cover to vulnerable R-Senators in 2020.
Any time you see Collins voting against her party, that’s what’s happening. McConnell made sure the number of R’s would not bring the vote to 60.
The US Senate is no longer a functioning body.
Gee, what makes you think that?
Is Fort Knox safe with this guy in charge? Who the fuck knows anymore.
chip, chip, chip,…
A journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step. Keep the pressure on and take every opportunity to force republicans to make votes.
Putin is not going to be happy, I hope we see a roll call vote on this on C-span.
It looks like Gillibrand didn’t vote.
Might be because Huntsman is the US Ambassador to Russia? Any excuse in a storm, I guess.
@bankerpup Rand Paul went to Russia after that by himself, I think.
Also, surprised to see that Murkowski isn’t one of the “rebels.”
Really? Interesting—though perhaps there is some pedestrian explanation.
Hard to believe an article of this length could be written without even mentioning the Magnitsky Act since that is the reason for all of this.
For a really good current interview with Bill Browder, the one guy specifically mentioned by Trump after meeting with Putin at Helsinki and originator of the Magnitsky Act, you should listen to the most recent Trumpcast podcast from Slate. I thought I would be bored having heard it all before but it was surprising how current revelations gave an even deeper understanding of what is going on here. I was also surprised by how beneficial to the Russian oligarchs and Putin an extended shutdown of the US government is when it comes to this issue. It is well worth the listen. I generally shy away from conspiracies on the basis that more than 3 people being involved will usually blow a hole in it somewhere, but since Putin’s influence on and control over Trump continues to all happen right out in the open, I am not sure any of this qualifies as a conspiracy.
I keep waiting for the story about Browder being poisoned somewhere in London.
Just fo fun, google “Russian agent”…
Rand Paul did not go on the 4th of July, but he did go in August to hand deliver a message from Trump:
