Here’s the Tillerson vote chart.

If you see a familiar name on ‘the yes side’, please hum.

“If you’re Bashar al Assad and you read that it’s no longer a
priority of the United States to have you removed from power, I believe
that’s an incentive to act with impunity,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) told
reporters Wednesday.

I don’t believe that was Secretary Tillerson’s intention or that’s what he thought it would happen,” he added.

This, of course, is the reason that it’s important to have experienced diplomats in the State Dept, especially the Secretary of State.

M.T. Suitio is ginning up his 2020 run by opposing trump whom he has hated since he lost to him in the primaries. Don’t be fooled, he’s the same lazy incompetent who voted to confirm Tillerson, DeVos, etc and would roll back the unfreezing of relations with Cuba among other self-serving policies.

He’s just a gentler version of the same old gop crap and he’s deep in the pockets of the right wing 1%.

On the main floor, all of the committee Republicans voted for Tillerson and all but one of the committee Democrats voted against the nominee.

Chris Coons didn’t get a chance to vote on the main floor, because he was at Dover with Trump and Ivanka.

Tillerson just does not care and that is the scariest thing about him.

This is encouraging.

To hear Republicans actually provide a thoughtful reply to reality, and not play politics with people’s lives, like Trump is doing.

It’s encouraging because I’m convinced that the next play to divert our attention from the Russian infiltration of our government will rely on a cataclysmic and catastrophic disaster, under the misleading idea that (say) 10,000 dead Americans might get the country to “rally” around Trump and forget the Russians are here.

After all, Putin doesn’t mind killing innocent people. And children make easy targets.

And the reason he should have a department adequately staffed so that the staff can brief him/coach him/support him. There is a world of institutional foreign policy/diplomatic experience at Foggy Bottom, locking himself away/apart does not serve him well which ensures that the country (and world) is not well served.

Putin and Assad are allies. Trump and Tillerson don’t give a fuck what Assad does to the Syrian people and adopt lackadaisical rhetoric regarding their plight. You do the fucking math. Here, let me get you started:

A few hundred civilian deaths by war crimes involving chemical weapons < Oil profits for Exxon and the Russian gas company Trump now has an interest in

This is a good sign. Bannon leaving is another. I think Trump is being boxed in, because people are terrified of nuclear war with North Korea, war with Russia, or the like.

Rubio in regards to Trump blaming Obama for the attack:

“That presidency is over. We have a new presidency,” said Rubio. “The bottom line is that people who killed those children are Bashar al Assad and Vladimir Putin’s military forces. That’s who should be held responsible, 100 percent responsible. They are the ones gassing their own people. It is my personal view that any effort to take even an iota of blame away from those truly responsible does not further our cause.”

Agreed.

EDIT: Also Rubio got the Trump bully treatment during the primary and his campaign was hacked by Trump’s ally Putin. He has plenty of reasons to loath Trump. We should encourage him and other republicans to speak up. This is a start – and I have to wonder why now… things are shifting. When they sense weakness and are no longer afraid of Trump, the dam is going to break wide open.

Yes Marco, when you have a group of unqualified people in the upper levels of government things tend to get royally screwed up. Now tell us did you perhaps vote for these unqualified people and if so what did you expect?

government run by inexperienced fools = foolish government

get what you pay for, and are we ever getting it

enough “winning” already, rip the band aid off this festering version of our government (i.e. let’s start taking out the white house russians NOW), let’s get this shit over before there is nothing left worth fighting over, and we are well on our way down that path

Good to see Sen. Rubio pushing back against Trump’s BS and blame-shifting, but does anyone else remember in 2013, when:

President Obama threatened a military strike in response to Assad’s use of chemical weapons, and Sens. Rubio and Cruz said that in doing so Obama would be serving as the terrorists’ Air Force?

And when, after President Obama agreed to let Congress weigh in on the decision to use military force, the Congress – which had previously called Obama a tyrant for unilaterally threatening military action without Congressional approval – suddenly went silent?
