Based on the blatant disregard for the President’s authority to, if you will, preside, I cannot help but wonder if Congressional Republicans are simply planning a formal coup d’etat.

Oh, by the way, Pat: since you assholes have forbidden the President to actually have trials for those people, they remain Prisoners of War (never mind that you assholes forgot to actually, you know, declare war). Under the Geneva Conventions, I believe that they are required to be held at a military facility. So, it’s pretty much Leavenworth or … well … Leavenworth, if you want them in a secure facility. I certainly do.
And while we’re at it, Pat, why don’t you respond to the President’s point that Guantanamo is a recruiting poster for ISIS and al Qaeda?

Is anyone else thinking that Obama should just close Gitmo. Follow the plan exactly without any input from the House or Senate. Let them wail. Let them scream about impeachment. Let them go full tantrum on national television.

Naturally. What we have here is a Grumpy Old Party moron from Kansas. Kansas, the state that elected Brownback Governor, and look where they ended up. Roberts is one of an entire generation of used up old men who’ve been in power far too long, and in cases like this, it shows.
The best thing that can be said for Kansans is that they have only 6 Electoral Votes. It should have only 3, but some people actually choose to live in States being run by backward old people who know their time is done. People whose only remaining goal in what little life they have left is to make that same life miserable for as many people as they possibly can in the time left to them.
Gitmo is a scar on America. It is the creation of a few of these same backward men, whose dedication was then and is now to turn America into that kind of Nation they fervently claim that America fears the most.
America’s ongoing tragedy is that men like Roberts are succeeding in turning America into the very worst of herself, rather than the very best.
And the average people simply don’t give a damn.
Too bad grandstanding old prick Pat Roberts didn’t follow the paper into the trash. It’s exactly where he belongs.

He should have continued: “We Republicans can destroy this country all by ourselves. We don’t need alQaeda or ISIS to help us.”

The pure unadulterated racism of the GOP knows no bounds. This president has done well for our country. Diminishing him is a disgrace.
