Discussion: GOP Senator: Republicans' Letter To Iran Not 'Productive'

Discussion for article #234172

I don’t think the Iranians are that concerned about what 47 senators think

Did a paint can fall on this guy’s head when he was elected to the Senate or a laurel wreath?

What is with this Jeff Flake guy and his reasonable talk? Everybody knows that reasonable, well-informed opinions are not tolerated in the GOP, much less the AZ GOP.

I remember going to an OFA meeting when Kyl resigned and Flake was starting to campaign for his seat. We were discussing the chances of a Democrat taking the seat and the head of the meeting said Flake would be very hard to beat because he’s not bat-shit crazy.
He was right. Flake is pretty even keeled on many subjects. And compared to many of his fellow party members, he’s actually a bit likeable.
That’s not to say he doesn’t toe the party line and vote with them. Because he certainly does. He just doesn’t tend to seek the cameras to spout insane shit.

Does the GOP know this guy is walking around trying to destroy all their hard work?

Don’t worry that will be corrected with some passing under the table.

Anybody else notice that of the 47 traitors to sign their traitorous document, very few are going on camera with Cotton. Certainly not the GOP Senate leadership. It’s basically just Cotton and some minor traitors. Yeah, they signed it but that’s as far as most seem to want to go.

Blitzer asked if the 47 senators who did sign the letter were trying to hurt President Obama or help Iran, Flake said he didn’t think so.

His answer rambles so much I don’t know which question he answered. But taken as a whole this is very unlike a crAZy to react, that is, with some reasonableness…

Please consider signing the petition to have the 47 GOP Senators charged with violation of the Logan Act.
Already has 89,000+ signatories needs 100K

Not just unproductive Sen. Flake, that letter may have been illegal.

This is the first Senator I have heard from either party acknowledge the fact that the negotiations are multilateral and that any sanctions the US would impose unilaterally would be useless.

And ‘me too’ Boobie Jindal. He needs some air time … :-S

Now at 95,188 … I just signed.

“Iran is at the table because these sanctions have bitten pretty hard, these multilateral sanctions.”

Yeah, sanctions which were not a treaty and were negotiated and put in place by President Obama agreeing with multiple parties through an international agreement… which is exactly what your 47 idiot fuckstick traitorous brethren can’t seem to even grok.

I think this is because the illegal letter just torpedoed any chance to get a veto-proof vote on his pet bill to demand any Iran agreement get Senate approval (a pretty big tell that the letter’s claims in and of itself are factually full of shit).

97,297 now… 2,703 left… this should crack the goal line in about 30 mins or less.

Sorry, but that is a bit of hyperbolic woo. While the letter and the actions behind it are despicable, violated over 200+ of norms and pretty clearly violated the Logan Act, this was nothing even approaching that level of nonsense.

I suggest you dial it way down if you want to be taken seriously.
