Discussion: GOP Sen. Won't Vote For Trump: He Has 'Disregard For Common Decency'

Now? Now you’re noticing that he has no regard for human decency? You Senator Collins have the spine of a chocolate eclair.

…and, Senator? Would you care to finish that thought?

Well, a day-old eclair – it got a bit dried out, so it wasn’t quite so squishy as before…

Collins is Senator from Maine–that’s ME. MA is Massachusetts

It’s okay to pass budgets that would make the lives of millions more miserable, and to call those affected things like “takers,” “lazy,” “slaves,” and “brainwashed,” but, my goodness, can’t we be decent about it?

Right? It’s because they’d all rather hang on in this middle ground where they can bash Clinton when they’re up for reelection next.

Pathetic.

Only hope is that Clinton gets a lot done because of her Senate relationships and is viewed as a good enough president to reelect.

She doesnt seem like the quickest learner, but better late than never.

Well, the odd bit of history since 1820 isn’t that important; but it does raise the question of how Massachusetts is fielding four Senators.

More blah blah blah from Mitch’s Maine Rubber Stamp.

I hope LePage challenges her in the next primary and takes her out!

She has to clear that with Mitch.

B-but Donald just gave a speech about tax cuts! Tax cuts lure Republicans like shit lures flies, and she resisted!

Collin’s cynicism is breathtaking, without any sense of shame or irony. The rabid crypto-fascist was fine in the primaries when he was feeding red meat to the base in the South and Midwest, but I was confident he would pivot and become a statesman for the general. The change of heart is because Clinton is +7 in Maine. Profiles in Courage.

It is well past time for you to switch parties or resign. With your politics there is absolutely no way you can maintain your honor or dignity and still be a Republican.

Beat me to it – but with a better metaphor.

Watch McCain now: After winning his primary, will he look for the right opportunity to un-endorse? Or will he keep the endorsement gutlessly in place because he won’t want Trump voters to abandon him in the General?

A day late and a dollar short you old rat bag.
If T-rump was + 10 in the polls you know this beaaatch and all the other Republican whores would be singing a different tune. They were all fully willing to accept Palin as a VP when they thought it might give Gramps the Whitehouse.
It’s like they all just woke up and noticed the Titanic was sinking and the band is playing “Nearer my god to thee”

Read the original Washington Post op ed before I came over here for the comments. It is so lame.

First she says repeatedly that she was willing to forgive all if only a new Donald had appeared as if that was ever going to happen.

Second, and more importantly, she never says for whom she will vote. As far as I can tell, she is just sitting this one out.

But why should I be surprised, it is how she has defined her role in the Senate. She puts up a facade of moderation while giving safe harbor to right wing extremism.

I think Sen. Collins is very courageous, most people would fear being seen as blatant opportunists for such an act, given Trumps drop in the polls…

The venom toward Sen. Collins is understandable, but this is an important event. She’s a senior senator, and she blasted him for all the things we would hope a senior official would blast him for. Should it have happened earlier? Of course! This is the stuff those pussy GOP primary candidates should have been calling Trump out for on national TV. Had it been so, we might not be suffering him today. Still, this is a sign of much more to come in this vein, and it will finish Donald off. I’m glad she wrote that op-ed, whatever its and her shortcomings.
