Discussion: GOP Sen. Won't Vote For Trump: He Has 'Disregard For Common Decency'

I agree with that, there are many ‘so what?’ comments for these defectors, but the example we as individuals set, willl influence other people on the fence, so it is important each time somebody goes public…

Senator Collins is not from Massachusetts. She is from Maine. And she can stay there.

She crossed that bridge a long time ago.

If you’re going to rigidly insist on factual accuracy, you’re not going to have fun at TPM

It felt like she was from Massachusetts. If truthiness is good enough for Republicans it’s good enough for me

I’m glad she wrote the op-ed. I also hope her future tenure in office is short.

All that being said, I believe Maine has another Senator, and he has been very quiet of late. How about it, Angus? Where do you stand?

You’re just confused. MA is Massachusetts, Maryland, and Maine. MI is Minnesota, Missouri, Michigan, and Mississippi. MO is Montana. I’m continually amazed that the USPS can’t spell!

All these republicans walking away from Trump like some kind of badge of honor are part of the problem in a BIG WAY. They have political blood on their hands and belong on the scrapheap of losers. It was their failure to do their jobs in congress (house and senate) to work with the administration towards the common good instead of being the party of NO.
They brought Trump to us by causing frustration among the masses of republicans with their continuous obstruction, including not voting for a SCOTUS nominee. They are linked to Trump whether they disavow him or not. They are what’s wrong with America. They are political bums who just don’t know it yet.

Republicans know these things. Don’t take our word for it.

I agree with all the comments on this thread, that rightfully say Sen Collins has not been a profile in courage in dealing with her republican counterparts over the last 8 years. However, I need to give credit where credit is due. Our rep in the 2nd district, Bruce Peloquin ( sp) has said NOTHING about trump… still looking to see where the wind blows his wall street fanny.

So, I look at this as glass half full. Have disagreed with her plenty over the years… but this is not a popular position in this state. Good for you Sen Collins,.

Yes, but I’m from Massachusetts. The state that gave the Senate Elizabeth Warren.

We have Angus… at least one good one!

Also the state that gave the Senate Scott Brown. Admittedly, that was a choice between Scott Brown and Martha Coakley, but still, it killed the Democrats’ filibuster-proof majority.

I think they’re all waiting for their primaries to be over before jumping ship or boarding it.

While it’s good from a partisan political standpoint that Collins is abandoning Trump, we all know that if Trump was up 10 points in the polls Collins would be singing his praises and screeching about how Corrupt Hillary needs to be tried for treason for Benghazi Emailgate. It’s only because plenty of Republicans have already announced their opposition to the badly-losing Trump that Collins has summoned her entirely fraudulent “courage” to take this heroic stand.

The real Susan Collins is the fake “moderate” who voted against the ACA.

Josh, your volunteer copy editing interns from India mean well, but…

Senator, you hit the nail … on the pointy end. Why even bother with decency? It’s so “common” it’s even more down market than Newport cigarettes and Colt 45 malt liquor (sorry, Millet lol)

“including demeaning Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) heroic military service”

And yet, unlike you, old man mcCrank supports, endorsed and will vote for trump. Because with mcCrank it’s not country first, for him, it’s only his ass in our senate seat first and foremost!

And Scott brown, and mitt romney…just saying.
