Discussion: GOP Sen. Predicts Kennedy Will Retire From Supreme Court This Summer

I’m sure Jurist Kennedy did not give the GOP Senator permission to use his prediction as a motivator for conservatives too vote in the midterm elections!

Well, I’m inspired by McConnell’s precedent to suggest we wait to hold hearings on nominations until we seat a new president. Preferably one who isn’t a world-historical traitor.

He may very well find it surprising to read he’s thinking about retiring. I’m struck by the lameness of this admission, though. It’s like trying to persuade a bored, distant spouse to care again by offering some big present.

Kennedy has already hired his clerks for the 2018 term, starting in October. Full stop.

Wishful thinking from a twat.

If Kennedy is still sensible enough to read the news and watch it on TV, I should think he would delay retirement for several years.

The strangest thing about this story is the thought that Mike Lee would replace him. The guy who so loved Sam Alito he clerked for him twice.

Why bring little annoyances like facts into this conversation? We’re baselessly speculating here…

And what business does anyone think Mike Lee has being even in the Supreme court building? Let alone as justice ?

Of course it does jive with Trumps M.O. of choosing THE worst person for any job he is tasked with filling.

Heller is a Republican. The thought of using facts was not even considered.

Ginsberg already hired her clerks for the 2019-20 term, These folks like Heller ought to hold their horses.

Sounds more like wishful thinking than any kind of “analysis” to me

Fuck you, Heller. History will spit upon your memory, you enabling half-assed coward.

We can’t even hold hearings on a new SCJ until after the midterms. We need to know what the American people think. And if the Republicans lose seats, then it’s obvious that the American people are unhappy with the President, which means we need to wait until we know the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Have I got that right, Sen. McConnell?

After donnie’s crap Supreme appointment (Not to mention ALL the other lower court appts)…I would think that a threat like this might actually work AGAINST Heller. It’s possible that the left AND moderates can be motivated by this to vote against the right.

Maybe I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one.

If he harbored even a thought about retirement, the prospect of be succeeded by Mike Lee would end it.

I was gonna say–it’s far too close to the next election (2020? 2024? whatevs). The Constitution would want us to wait and let the people decide.
