It’s as rare a phenomena as a photo of Cathy McRodgers without Boehner and McCarthy. Oops - now poor Cathy will never have her photo published again unless she attaches to Paul Ryan.

Thank you, Maggie Hassan. The election hasn’t even happened yet, and you are already having an effect as Ayotte realizes that she can’t win by being part of the crazy caucus. But I think it will be too little too late.

Yeah, but if there’s one thing she’s not, it’s either a free-thinker or a moderate. She’s just another hard right senator for 5 years and during the year before an election, when she thinks people are watching her, she’s still a hard right senator but she’ll take a couple of positions that are heterodox to simulate moderation.

And in the Senate, no one is ever punished by the base for that.

Sen. Kelly Ayotte has the “Every 6-Year Itch” again. It is a little known but highly-understood and observable condition that affects pretty much elected Republican senators but also known to strike any senator who was appointed to serve the remainder of a term or one who also was elected to serve out the remainder of a six-year term. Again, the phenomenon affects primarily GOP members but observed nearly universally in ANY politician hailing from a “purple” state. Perhaps we should also refer to it as the Purple Blues? … or the Purple Plague?
