Another casualty of the Republican right.
(And, letâs hope, a pick-up for the Democrats.)
Sorry, but you canât complain about âboth sidesâ in this congress.
The GOP legislate in secrecy, donât consult with Democrats, donât allow amendments, donât allow debate, donât allow testimony from experts, push their bills through without being scored, and are constantly pushing a legislative agenda that will hurt the middle class and help the rich (and sometimes only the super rich).
So tell me: Why should a Democrat vote for anything the GOP has been doing?
Yikes! My congressman.
Another establishment Republican falling on his sword. Good news in that itâs a pickup opportunity for Dems. But bad news in the sense that remaining Republicans will be of the Bannon/alt-right varsity, unwilling to compromise and clueless to good governance.
Canât argue that one at all. At this point, looking at a Republican candidate in detail is not in the offing. For me, at this moment, if it starts with R then it is a non-starter. That is not out of laziness or apathy, it just make no sense to do otherwise.
That is the one problem with those who are leaving, if they are moderate or at least good people, they were to an extent gatekeepers. The incoming may not be.
OK, whatâs the back story?
âŚand how many times did you vote party line with the Republicans no matter WHAT the cost???
That would be lovely but, I checked his district and Iâm not too optimistic
Thatâs now thirteen GOP reps who are retiring.
At least half of those seats could be pick-ups for Democrats.
A wave is building.
Letâs make sure the Dems donât get taken down by the undertow.
The Democrats need to get UNITED and cut the crap.
His election victories ranged from 57% to 61% of the popular vote. Itâs mostly the âAlabamaâ part of South Jersey.
Whatever the reason/excuse the outcome is the same. More Republicans jumping ship. They know the party is in trouble. They know they sold their souls. Now they want out.
âRegrettably, our nation is now consumed by increasing political polarization; there is no longer middle ground to honestly debate issues and put forward solutions.â (NJ Rep. LoBiondo - Republican)
Oh, BS â the middle ground is to the left of todayâs more conservative Democrats, where itâs always been.
Today a vocal and obstinate minority within both parties has hijacked good legislation in pursuit of no legislation.â (Same dude)
Double BS â itâs 98% on your side and you fucking well know it. Cup of tea, Frank? Sorry, Iâm all out of sugar, so the tea is rather bitter.
Thereâs almost no such thing as a âgood Republicanâ, because ultimately, they get coopted by the loony birds on the fringe.
Itâs why Boehner left. And the Republican leaders now, Ryan and McConnell, were once perceived as hard right, tea party types. NowâŚtheyâre called Rinos and will be lucky to hold on to their leadership positions.
