Discussion: GOP Rep. Switched Vote On Refugee Bill After Pressure From Colleagues

none of these people are in my district, so I don’t even get the chance to kick their slimy butts out of office.

Quite the leaders these republicans…
They pose as patriotic…fighters…courageous…

All they are is a bunch of bullies and cowards

Gee what a coward. Just when you thought a republican had a spine. It is so sad that republicans are making this country not the home of the brave, but the home of the cowards.

Your story and replies have one theme in them that gets repeated. Fear. We have to stop being afraid as our first response and get to work to prevent a president trump or bullshit stories by fearful people.

Fear of Muslims fear of govt. Fight the fear.

Exactly. The way I read it, he was all about not turning out backs on these desperate people who are fleeing war torn countries where we’re fighting… until he was offered him a promotion.

I don’t know anything about this guy so it may have started out genuine, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if that was the only reason he opposed it in the first place.

A Republican saying “we can work this out” … and he wonders why he might not be taken seriously!?

He doesn’t need to explain what happened…he’s an f’ing coward. That’s what happened!

okay … “both sides do it” is often lame, but on pressuring members to vote for hot button legislation, yes, it does … no surprise here really. A Republican saying some of the things he did still is of some value. Him voting for it based on party pressure for me personally is somewhat more forgivable than some of the Democrats who voted for it. Expect more of them and any polite noises they make has less effect than a Republican from Oklahoma.

Wel,l that anecdote should clinch the Profile in Courage Award for him.

Electability vs morality…

My guess is that you don’t spend any time in the bowels… sorry, “forums” of some of the “conservative” web sites, places like FixThisNation.com, LeanRightAmerica.org, PatriotNewsDaily.com, and TotalConservative.com. The “nice” folks who participate in these forums feel as if they are among like-minded friends, and they’re free to let their hair down. And I mean seriously let their hair down. These folks, and there seems to be a lot of them, are insanely bigoted homophobic racist xenophobic low-information ammosexuals. And I may well be leaving out an adjective or two; it’s hard to keep up. They have no problem bragging about their Obama shooting targets or the gay agenda or all those Muslims who are coming to KILL US ALL!
(I accidentally got on one of their mailing lists. I didn’t take myself off because it’s useful to see what these people – Trump’s base – really think.)
Your buddy in Utah is just one of these folks; there are an awful lot more.

So, instead of taking in and welcoming the people who, once their families are SAFE and SECURE are very willing to travel BACK to Syria to FIGHT AGAINST ISIL, we SPIT IN THEIR FACES and call THEM “Terrorists” and prove to them that what ISIL preaches IS CORRECT. “Americans HATE all Muslims, so join the Caliphate”.
Oh, Your, God are the COWARDLY Conservative Americans FUCKING MORONS!!!
