Everybody wants candidates to release their tax records. It’s so obvious. Trump didn’t get elected because he didn’t release them. Trump had to lie to fool everybody into electing him.
The slippery slope is one the Republican Party has created by defing everyone and siding with criminals.

The president has repeatedly made it clear that he would release his tax returns, except ‘they were under audit’ and he couldn’t.
I honestly think Democrats should just play this as ‘We are helping out Trump by having the Federal government release his tax returns itself, instead of causing him the legal liability he thinks there is if he releases them while being audited. As the President wished, his tax returns will now be seen by all Americans.’
