Discussion: GOP Rep. Complains Release Of Trump Tax Returns Could Create 'Slippery Slope'

After all, it was a Trump campaign promise.

No! But we fucking better ASAP.

I understand but I honestly think that in order to avoid possible privacy issues it would be better if the parties required it.

An interesting and relevant question given that this one appears to have been up for sale since Jan. 2017. In fact, it’s been bought and then sold again so many times since then that it’s starting to look like a classic car that’s been rode hard and put away wet.

"At the end of the day the President has been clear with his tax returns. The American people elected him.”

So true … if by “clear,” he means lying and changing his story repeatedly — first promising “absolutely” to release them, then insisting that Hillary first release her emails, then saying he was “working on it,” then saying it would have to wait until after an “audit,” then saying he didn’t mind releasing them, then having Conway say “he’s not going to release his tax returns,” then complaining that the issue was “being brought up again” after he “easily won the Electoral College,” and finally having his press secretary say, “we’ll get back to you on that.”

Couldn’t be clearer!

One thing is very unclear to me, however: Why is the monster from Young Frankenstein making excuses for Donald Trump’s secrecy.

Right, but it would be fun to do it just to watch the hypocrisy train roar down the tracks for a few days. As a candidate I’d do it to make a point.

Then we’re back to waiting for the RNC to put the interests of the country ahead of their pursuit of power.

I am not hopeful.

Either that or we vote him out. Those are the two remedies that exist.

I don’t want any coups by IC or the military or anyone else. It never ends well - it would be the death of America.

I see this as a threat. If the GOP returns to a house majority, they will start pulling and releasing unredacted the tax returns of every major democrat they don’t like.

I’m sick and tried of these Republicans covering up Donald Trump’s corrupt and dishonest administration. From the looks of thing the Republican Party has been Compromised By Russia to the point of being Treason.

Constitution Defines Treason:
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.

Clearly Trump and Republicans have given Aid and Comfort to our Enemy Russia.

When POTUS and his crew are all in prison, they’d all better hope for a slippery slope.

Why don’t these people even try to put forth a plausible argument before they go off sounding like they are merely shilling for a criminal? No slippery slopes were created by prior candidates releasing this information, the difference now us that the Don has broken the law for decades and that disclosure will not play well, even with his fawning base.

In Norway, tax returns are public information and are available online. So many mountains, so many slippery slopes, so many Winter Olympics medals.

I for one would be perfectly happy for the tax returns of every elected official to be public - and I’m talking all the way down to the school board.
