Unfortunate that the question was worded in such a way that the Rep. had the wiggle room. Do you “call for” him to release the returns? “Oh sure, he Should. Out of the goodness of his heart. Just if he feels like it. That would be good. Not like I have any legal mechanism to compel him to that I’m aware of, because I am a useless partisan tool.”

Talk is cheap . . .
You nailed it. It was an answer with a built-in escape hatch. Probably practiced it all week.
There is a big difference between should and shall. His pledge to back up the so called president is the take home lesson.
How old is Rep. Gaetz? He looks like he just learned to shave or maybe is in his early 20’s. And how does a freshman representative land a position on a major committee like Judiciary in his first term?
Oh lord, I just read this scumbag’s Wikipage…Suffice it to say, he’s an odious little shit with little character and integrity to begin with…and talk about white privilege. This guy has only gotten where he is by riding his daddy’s coattails into office since getting into politics. The kinds of things he’s supported in Florida show what kind of rightwing extremist he will undoubtably prove himself to be in the US House in the coming years. He’s just another asshole that wants to totally eliminate the EPA altogether too. Don’t expect him to ever demand Rump’s taxes. Right now it looks like he merely found a way to placate the crowd at his town hall. I don’t believe he’ll follow through on that at all.
He is 34.
His dad has been in state politics for years. Matt “Baby” Gaetz is the typical silverspoon kid riding in his father’s wake (Which is a pretty despicable wake, too). The kid has been arrested many times for DUI, his father going so far as to have a state police officer who arrested him one time fired from his job.
We ran someone against him, but Gaetz just had too much name recognition and way too much money. (Doesn’t help us that this district is about 3:1 red)
Anyway, shout out to my local folks for trying to hold his feet to a fire and getting national coverage
Koch Bros money is now pouring into a far-lunatic-fringe-Republican challenger to him in his primary for him DARING to oppose the Dear Leader.
Looks like one of a prize collection of assholes who will support their Asshole-in-Chief first and foremost, Don’t expect anything from this clown.
We’ve been over this before and I’m getting tired of reminding: you’re a member of Congress. If you don’t like something PotUS is doing you have a variety of means to force the issue beyond yakking.
“I support President Trump and I’m going to back him up”.
And as we get further into the most corrupt administration since Nixon, those are the words that the GOP will use to hang themselves.
Profile in courage! He must stand a little bit taller and puff his chest out a little bit more.
T`aint NEVER gonna happen .
I see a bit of Bannon in his face now that you mention the DUIs. Someone needs to pull the whiskey away before the nose turns rosy and the spots start forming.
I’ll start believing in ancient Egyptian crypts filled with snakes before Matt Gaetz gets a pass on anything. He makes slugs look dry.
On the push to have Trump release his income tax records, I say "Let’s roll!"

[/quote]Right you are. I’m in an adjacent Congressional district with an equally odious freshman member with just as regressive views. Another wingnut doctor who wants to eliminate the ACA, put guns in every hand, and supportive of the Trump disaster. As you know, this is why the Panhandle of Florida is known as L.A…Lower Alabama.
