Mississippi is a beautiful state nature wise and it does have nice people, blues music, and good southern cuisine but it is a problem child as far as states go. Terrible schools, high poverty, Jim Crow culture.
Here is a list of the top 10 companies in Mississippi: None of which appears likely to give a damn about the new law:
Another beautiful state the right wingers have ruined.
Evidently, Gov. Bryantâs son Patrick is gay (below far right) and recently moved from his interior design studio in Jackson to Texas. Guess he knew what his proud Papa was planning to do?!?!?! I canât even fathom signing and dealing out a piece of legislation aimed at the very heart of who my child is. ___ Veto it. Simple! I would have gladly resigned and given the whole legislative GOP cesspool the finger before I would have signed it.

(The picture was taken, I just found out, at something called the Seersucker and Sombreros Ball. HellâŚI donât even want to know. )
How are lifestyle violations determined? Did the state offer guidelines or do judgemental Christians just wing it?
Second? Weird. Mississippi is almost always 50th (or 1st) in everything.
Work harder, Mississippi!
Always count on the south.
Without MARRY or without Mary?
Iâd heard Jesus was all about pimping, but I figured that was a Puerto Rican thing.
Mississippi TEAliban logic: âRepublicans want to destroy Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare, and I canât live without themâŚnot to mention the food stamps, housing subsidies, and disability funds I receive. But I always vote Republican, because they will protect me from maybe having to bake a cake for a gay weddinââŚperhaps? âŚcould happen!?â!..and thatâs whatâs important to me.â
âwill serve as the Magnolia Stateâs badge of shame.â
PfffffâŚMississippiâs rockinâ so much flare on its vest already that Iâm not sure if thereâs room for a new badge of shame.
The Governor knows that while everyoneâs looking at the gay wedding cake he can sneak off to a ladiesâ room to take a crapâŚ
This violates my non-religious beliefs. And exactly how do businesses know two men or two women are gay when they go to a restaurant or to a retail store? Do they assume that any time they see two people of the same sex together that they must be gay couples? And how would they know if a man and a woman are both gay, but are friends? What if business were down and the owners were desperate for customers? Would they turn down customers and let their businesses tank?
Iâm sure there are plenty of lawyers associated with the ADF who will be more than happy to defend Mississippi.
"We commend the governor for signing into law protections for schools, churches, businesses, and public employees so that they wonât face government discrimination. After all, youâre not free if your beliefs are confined to your mind. " - Alliance Defending Freedom Legal Counsel Kellie Fiedorek
This is just welfare for wingnut law firms.
Mississippi is already a pariah state with the worst education system, intractable poverty, the highest rate of obesity, highest rate of type 2 diabetes, and the shortest life expectancy of any state in the US. I wish i could say that this is a new low for Mississippi, but it seems like itâs pretty much par for the course. I pity anyone unfortunate enough to have to live in such a shithole.
This bill goes beyond allowing the free exercise of religion. It forces government to become a participant in that religious exercise.
Time to stop awarding federal contracts to Mississippi shipyards.
PayPal told North Carolina to take a hike, pulls new job center and 400 new employees out!!
Sadly, thereâs a fantastic school there - not Southern Baptist, naturally: http://www.gosaints.org/
Sure, itâs about $15k a year (it was $13k for elementary for my daughter), but a fantastic school.
Mississippi needs an enema to flush out the GOP debris.
So , itâs only Jesus and God that loves everyone ?
