Discussion: GOP Lawmakers Accused Of Siding With Oregon Occupiers With Public Lands Bill

That and encouraging folks to violate the law of the land and not pay the Fed!

Don’t expect this to go away, even though a majority of Americans are rightfully against it. There is big money behind it.

The very definition of “big government.”

I’m sorry. I can’t even. I just can’t even.

We need a block grant for someone to police these Republicans. There’s a few, like this wacko, that I’d like to see locked up at Camp X-ray.

The Gop is not tough on terrorism, they fold like a cheap suit. Truly they are gutless.

“Suppose you were an idiot, and suppose you were a member of Congress; but I repeat myself” – Mark Twain

Tens of thousands men, women and children killed by guns every year. Congress? They got nothin’, and it blocks funding even to research the issue.

Armed bullies need congressional allies to further their goal to seize and plunder nation’s public lands? Idiots in Congress fall over each other to accommodate them.

Chaffetz on public lands:
Barney Fife more respected and capable than federal law enforcement officers
to police public lands.

Honest Chaffetz version:
We want ineffective policing of public lands using the same blueprint we use to
emasculate the ATF (Deny funding, tools and resources to what has worked, and funnel the money saved to what is guaranteed to fail)

It is difficult to put into words just how vile and grotesque this proposal actually is.

Wingnut Chaffetz, fresh from putting all the blame for the Flint water crisis on the EPA and thus the justification for eliminating the agency altogether throws in with the Bundy Bunch.
OK, then.

Bingo! It’s just another effort to neuter the federal government that serves us all so local communities can set the standard for how they interpret federal law for their region and taxpayer monies to go into the pockets of the uber-wealthy and the well-connected. Today’s elected Republican doesn’t want America as a whole to succeed and move forward.

Every single Republican in congress needs to make a trip to Oklahoma City and visit that Memorial down there. They need to read those accounts and read all the stories about the hundreds of people that were killed. This is their legacy. This is what they are building with all this bullshit. They are going to get someone or many someones killed! I remember those days and all the Clinton hate they spewed. It is no different than what they have done with Obama and will do with Hillary Clinton. It will be blood on their hands and it is the reason I will never vote for a Republican. EVER!

But different state laws have worked so well to address national problems. Look how well it’s worked to keep interstate traffickers in dangerous products from eluding detection/regulation… You know, like firearms as an example.

Yes, we should have the states run the Federal lands like they run the state parks. Hey, Gov Kasich, how is the fracking going on in the state parks…is deforestation and strip mining next?

It’s the conservative way!

I wonder if Chaffetz and the rest of the terrorist sympathizers are as interested in curtailing the federal government’s authority to prosecute the drug war.

There are plenty of internet sites where this comment would not be taken as snark.

“”“Chaffetz has said that shifting the BLM’s law enforcement to local sheriffs would help prevent future standoffs like the Oregon occupation”"" That’s a Third World approach. In the USA it’s been the custom to enforce ( rule of law ) the law not to make criminal activity legal so you can just walk away. Stopping Federal Enforcement isn’t a real solution for Federal law breaking. But I think we all know Rep. Chaffetz isn’t solving real problems with this bill. He isn’t trying. It’s pandering by a GOP’er proposing doomed legislation to make the rubes feel he’s “fighting for them”.

The bill probably goes nowhere. If it does its headed for a Judge that will strike it down.

Whenever I read insane shit like this story, I am heartened with the knowledge that Cliven Bundy will probably never breathe free air again. There is solace in knowing that violent maniacs, even right wing ones, ares still prosecuted and jailed in this nation.
