If I remember correctly it was the locals with Federal help that led the response to the Oregon standoff. Despite this the perps still rebuffed all.
By the way it is just not in the West and with public lands.
I have a neighbor who was the first homeowner in the area who believes he has a right to trespass on anotherâs property at any time for any reason. Posting the property does not stop him from âhuntingâ, he states he has a âproperty rightâ to access the land. Currently he sits in jail because he refuses to pay a bail bond after he was arrested for taking a shotgun while âhuntingâ to the âeyesoreâ of my solar field. The field sits in the middle of 60 acres, surrounded by a fence and blocked from view by low hills. The only way he knows of its existence is that he trespassed. The shotgun incident occurred because he got no satisfaction from the planning board when he demanded they force its removal on âeyesoreâ grounds.
When I purchased the old dairy farm I also purchased the water rights. But that has not stopped him from also accusing me of thief because I installed a potable rainwater retention system. He states the rainwater is his. He also states that the springs on the land feeding into a 5 and 2 acre ponds are also his and my use of a tertiary water treatment system is also in violation of his water rights.
His latest move is having his sons move cattle onto the property. He states that since I allow grazing by other farmers he also has the right. Actually the other farmers pay for that grazing but that does not matter, his âproperty rightsâ trump anything I may do with my property.
So these issues are just not in the West and public lands. Here in East TN, I experience the idiots every day.

This is brilliant, in a stupid evil way. The GOP has failed in its effort to transfer ownership of federal lands to states so that the states can sell the land off to mining, logging and grazing companies (to get temporary relief from the budget disasters caused by tax-slashing republican legislatures). So this bill would accomplish the same thing by handing over enforcement responsibility to local officials who have neither the interest, expertise nor resources to do it. The folks who would have bought that land from the states for a song would get to use it for whatever they want, without even having to pay for it.

This will die in committee or on Obamaâs desk. Still, this is only the opening round of what I bet will be a series of bills, accusations and meddling by western state republicans in all areas of federal involvement. Heck that stupid republican female legislator who visited and supported Bundyâs gang during the standoff should be arrested and charged with sedition!
I do see a future of ever escalating battles in Congress over exactly these issues related to the BLM and the uses of Federal lands. Hey, we know republican voters and their idiotic ÂŽ legislators have battled before with the Democrats on these very same issues but methinks the Bundy issue and Obamaâs recent land grab (a grab that btw benefits all Americans) has made this a red-hot issue in an election year.
Still Chaffetz and his motley crew as usual missed the polls that said most western state citizens agreed with the Feds that Bundyâs use of and non-payment for those grazing lands was flat out wrong as it hurt all the other paying ranchers. This makes little difference to Chaffetz as he and other realize that a Clinton presidency will seal off for another 8 years any chance to overthrow the BLM and impose local (read: republican) sheriff control, which really means zero control.

Sounds like these guys are siding with the loons. The BLM originally was enforcing a court order that was federal jurisdiction. Oregon had the local authorities involved too. In a situation like this it would be shocking if they did not ask the FBI to help out.

Block grants are such a scam. Ther is never a provision that the block monies have to be spent as advertised, most will go into private corporation pockets that will purport to do the job for the states and of course, into the general fund to make up for the loss of funds due to excessive tax cuts for those same corporations and their owners.

You need to post the signs that say âTrespassers will shot, survivors will be shot againâ every 5 feet, let the local law enforcement know and WASTE his ass next time he sets foot on your property. Then and only then will assholes like this learn.
