Ah, come on ! Bosnia, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, does it matter ? They are all far away, why bother with details like thatā¦and you want to cater for your votersā¦
You knowā¦Iāve lived all over the place and Iāve been in combat too. Went to a European University as wellā¦but when I look at this guyā¦and parse his words I get the feeling heās full of a lot more shit than people know.
It does sound like he did good deeds, for which I give him a lot of credit.
But accuracy matters. If heās saying Bosnia for craven political reasons, that should be beneath him and he discredits himself.
Itās not an an example of being inaccurate. Itās a case of flagrant bullshit. Croatia is Europeās best kept secret. Itās a paradise on the Adriatic sea. Itās beautiful and a favorite vacation spot for Europeans. Bosnia is a post war hell hole that even the Bosnians want out of. It sux there. Claiming to have been in Bosnia when in fact you were in Croatia is being as āinaccurateā as claiming to have climbed Mt. Everest when in fact all you did was take the elevator to the top floor of Macyās.
You should see his TV add, where he shoot a lake with a machinegunā¦
A GOP candidate lying?
Doesnāt that automatically drop them from the race?
IOKIYAR.
If youāre Hillary Clinton, such discrepancies launch congressional committee investigations.
My daughter and a friend went to Croatia on vacation in 2007. She said it was lovely, the lakes, the sea, houses on seaside hillsides.
Thereās no comparison with Bosnia. Heās just pandering and should be called out on it.
Thatās about the size of it. As with all lies, fudging the truth or outright bullshitting has never bothered Republicans in the slightest, particularly if it helps advance their political career. There are plenty of GOP supporters that back that approach too. Yet an honest misstatement or failure to recall something properly by a Democrat, Katy bar the doorā¦Its then time to bring in the klieg lights and sit that person down for some serious questioning with a no holds barred approach.
I think if a Democratic candidate was caught in an outright lie however, the difference is, most Dems would not be so charitable in backing up a fellow Dem lying on purpose for political expediency like a Republican would. We tend to look down on that kind of shit. Or perhaps I like to think weāre better than that at least.
Bubbles, I worked for the U.S. Cooperative Housing Foundation (which is now Global Communities) and we were the first NGO in Bosnia. I did projects up and down the Americas. South Africa. Sub Saharan Africa. Gaza Strip. Russia. The Pacific Rim. With other garden spots thrown in for smiles and jollies.
You donāt āforgetā where you were when the shit hit the fan.
Go blow a goat.
What the hell - they canāt stop lying even when the truth is in their favor.
SMH
Itās called The Adriatic Riviera.
It wasnāt a war zone during that conflict. I assume he was sucking up the rays on the beaches.
This guy is so slippery to pin down that his GOP opponents in the recent August primary accused him of being a Democrat. They had him pegged as an Obama-hugging liberal at a past Democratic convention among other things.
His current tv ads have him dressed in full black like heās Johnny Cash and doing a full court press as a motivational speaker. Heās definitely selling something. Comes across like a con man just like Trump. Heās running against a downstate rural Democrat which always is bad news for a GOP candidate running out of wealthy urban St. Louis County.
Grittens better have something besides lies to run on or the negative image that the GOP has already given him will be reinforced. Why he chose a black shirt and tie instead of riding in on a white horse like most conservative candidates do is a real mystery.
As a motivational speaker, I guess he thought it made him look more hip to younger voters?
Oh, heās certainly made some enemies among the state GOP during the primaries. I donāt think you are going to find many other state Republicans running to this defense over this.
They actually had to call off the Republican Unity Breakfast the following day because one of the other candidates was suing Gritenās our-of-state guardian angel billionaire for fraudā¦or was it the other way around? I think the CA ābusinessmanā is in a tug-of-war with the in-state GOP billionaire kingpin Rex Sinquesfield. Itās like Republicans are staging their own Game of Thrones here in Missouri.
You might remember that last summer former Senator Jack Danforth accused the state GOP Chairman of forcing another Republican candidate for Governor into committing suicideā¦ as the minister officiating at the manās funeral no less. The whisper campaign accused the guy of being Jewish. It doesnāt get any more grotesque in Republican politics than that.
No wonder Hillary is running even with Trump at this early stage in the campaign and the warring GOP factions havenāt yet taken out their daggers against each other. Stay tuned. There will be blood.
Again, your Missouri information helps set the table over which people are in play there. I do remember that incident with Senator Danforth to some degree. That was an ugly situation to be sure. Hereās hoping Missouri wakes up to the fact that they donāt have to go in the direction of Kansas anymore and can take a leap of faith that Dems might have an answer or two to their problems this time around.
So he had the truth on his site and then changed it to a falsehood? Thatās pretty much the definition of malice aforethought.
Also note that, according to the description, his trip to the refugee camps was organized by a professor who was evaluating the performance of aid organizations. In other words, he didnāt actually work with refugee children at all (probably just as well) but rather spent time watching the people who were working with refugee children and then asking those people to fill out a bunch of questionnaires during the hours when they could have been resting (or doing more to help the children). Morphing this into helping kids himself under dangerous conditions is self-promoting bullsh*t that calls the rest of his accomplishments into question.
He WAS a Democrat. While he did all of the good stuff on his resume, he was a Democrat. Then he decided to convert for some unknown reason. Heās an opportunist, at best. I find him slimy. Of course his opponent, Chris Koster, used to be a republican. Led their caucus in the damn state assembly. He chose to convert because he said the party left him. That was almost a decade ago. Koster has a damn near (if not) 100% rating from the fricking NRA. It can be so damn hard to find a decent Democrat to vote for here in MO. < sigh >
All these Republicans know the true nature of war from their own experiences in peaceful settings. Why, by his own testimony, the head of the party himself faced huge risks during the Vietnam War on his hands and knees fighting against the STD. And he earned the stripes signifying he knows the most basic things about war earlier than most, when he first put on his uniform at his militarized high school. Of such rugged stuff, many fine careers in slapstick have been made.
Itās actually a mini-gunā¦if I recall. Iāve shot those tooā¦but not at a lake. Iāve never shot at anything that wasnāt shooting back. The gun shooting ads are getting common. Itās sad that Americanās are so distant from what it really means to be tough they fall for these fake prob job jokes.
