Discussion: GOP Guv Candidate's Work 'In Bosnia' Was Mainly In Croatia

FOX: Exactly. It doesn’t matter if we invade Iraq or Iran. What matters is they are both far away and we have portrayed them as our enemies.

And their people are brown with “funny sounding” names.

It’s slimming, someone’s hiding a pudge.

Sounds like O’Reilly when he said he was in the Falklands during the war between Great Britain and Argentina when in fact he was thousands of miles away in Argentina. This candidate is blatantly lying and puffing his resume and should be called out for it.

Considering that Eric Greitens is a Republican and a Christian, this is going to be just the tip of the iceberg of lies and deception.

Witness the case of Roger Ailes who was involved in numerous incidents of groping and sexual molestation.

Or the case of Bill O’Lielly, journalist Sarah Palin’s colleague at Fox News, who supposedly was in a war zone in Falklands.

In my experience politicians lose the ability to speak truth when inconvenient or, especially, when it affects votes. Irrespective of party. For them votes trump most anyting else. Staying in office is the point.

This says a lot about character and integrity. Why lie? Any person possessing a strong moral compass wouldn’t do it.

The fact that the conservatives are shifting back and forth between Dem and Rep tells you that they know they are vulnerable moving targets that voters would just as well get out of the state capital and Washington DC if they can.

Conservatives have been stabbing working people in the back for decades now, as well as relying way too heavily on the NRA and a bunch of conservative billionaires to get elected. There is something fishy about all these family values men and something really rotten about their conservative ideology/principles which voters are beginning to catch onto.

Give me another Harry Truman in Missouri and voters will be happy to show the GOP to the door. It’s coming. There are a few interesting progressive lite candidates coming up in the Dem ranks here. I’ve got my fingers crossed that they are just what the doctor ordered and that MO voters have be happy to see them on the ballot in the coming years.

The political pendulum is moving back in a definite progressive direction.

He’s been getting fat grifting the farmers, he thinks? Why he thinks anyone can run a family farm these days without a degree in agriculture and advanced business is beyond me. Same thing hold for those that share crop with them. Big AG has been really giving real farmers a bum Trump size “deal” for way too many years in the Midwest.

That’s why he’s now running as a Rep instead of a Dem?

Staying in office and collecting the graft is the point and the problem. The Rep grunts know there is something really wrong, alright. That’s why they have been talking up term limits for decades since the Reagan sainthood took root as gospel. What they can’t face is that it’s been their own party who has been jacking them around.

Trump is making a lot of them face a lot of things about their own situation and their long-held beliefs that they have been doubting for a long time. Let the epiphany continue to materialize and take root as a progressive Democratic backlash from this day forward.

He’s about as Christian as Joyce Meyers whom folks in these parts have had a lot of experience. There are not bigger frauds and con men than motivational speakers with that Christian Wrong Prosperity Gospel running off their tongues.

A lot of them are coming out of the military and taking over the territory from the Elmer Gantry types. Beware of someone running who calls himself a Navy Seal candidate. I can assure you that their service was given purely with the intent of cashing in big time afterwards. They go into those officer training programs with dollar signs and K Street corruption as their real goal.

The war profiteering just never seems to end, does it?

A GE ‘gattling-type’ mini-gun it is, but I assumed that was a bit too gun-technical for this crowd, I stand corrected !

On top of that, Croatia is 83% Catholic, as opposed to Muslim, like Bosnia, or Orthodox Christian like Serbia … not much ethnic cleansing there…

Compared to Paul Ryan running for VP and claiming to have run an Olympic time in a marathon, this is a mere 5 on a scale of 1-10. Compared to the GOP claiming that the Governor of Alaska was competent and qualified to be the Vice President of the United States, this is a mere 2 on a scale of 1-10. The P in GOP stands for “puffery.,”

That’s a little harsh. However, Bosnia-Herzogovenia and Croatia are extremely different, although they are quite close. During 1994, B-H was not safe. Croatia and Serbia were much more safe, although (as you probably know) there were parts of Croatia and Serbia which had conflict - the very first death in the Yugoslavian Civil War occurred in the Plitvice Lakes Park, in Croatia (bordering B-H). Even today (or last year, which my wife and I were in Dubrovnik, Split, Zagreb, and Ljubljana), there are abandoned properties, owned by the wrong people (Serbs in Croatia, Croats in Serbia). There is a huge hotel, just south of Dubrovnik, which is entirely abandoned, and which has 300-400 rooms - Serbian interests had built it, and it was abandoned after the war. I understand that it was recently purchased by some Russian. Croatia is, as you say, the best place that most people have not gone to. We will return again next summer for a small academic conference, which is fun in its own way - last summer, the conference, in Dubrovnik, included a great trip to a farm restaurant south of town.

Another terrible thing for B-H is that the country is separated now into enclaves - Republika Srbska near Serbia, a Croatian dominated area near Croatia. The government structure requires representation from all 3 groups, and the number of bureaucrats is some kind of record. It’s a mess, no question.

Like telling everyone how bad it was in New Orleans during Katrina, with bodies floating, etc; when in fact you were sitting in an office in Little Rock watching it on TV. This guy is yet another GOP douche who willfully lies about his resume to win votes. He should be disqualified on the point alone.

I’d wondered if this was a reaction to having Bosnian immigrants in his state. He didn’t want the Bosnians (depending on their affiliations) thinking he was helping the Croats.

If he thinks this will help him with the Bosnian vote in St. Louis, he’s mistaken. Bosnians know where the towns are where he visited when he was 20. They’re in Croatia.

His website contains a whole bunch of highly predictable conservative platitudes, which I could have written, without a single proposal as to how any of them would actually be implemented. But I’ll hand it to him - he’s covered every single conservative slogan except putting God back in the classroom.
