Rock, paper, scissors.

The Rs have shown their play. It’s a bluff, since it depends on her credibility against his. Why is that a bluff?

Because she can testify not only to what happened, and to the damage Kavanaugh did to her, but also to the Republican majority’s refusal to call Mark Judge, or to insist that the other two individuals whom she named be questioned about their recollections: did they know Kavanaugh? Judge? Did they know her? Do they recall Kavanaugh and Judge drinking to excess?

And so on.

The killer question from Ford to the Rs: ā€œI’m here, Mr. Chairman. Ask me whatever you want. I’m not afraid anymore. What are you afraid of, that you won’t call Mark Judge to testify under oath?ā€

Her position is collapsing. She has one thing and one thing only - her righteous anger at the ā€œmolestationā€ by person unknown 35 years ago.

If she does not testify, she loses. If she testifies in private, she loses.

She wanted a public hearing. She’s going to get a public hearing and it will involve uncomfortable questions for her. ā€œDr. Ford, you were 15. Why were you at a party with drinks? Did you Mother drive you there? Did you drink? Did you do drugs?ā€

That kind of thing. But since she went to an exclusive all-girls boarding school with other rich girls, she will be able to address those questions easily.

Okay. Senator Feinstein, you wouldn’t happen to know just who it was that paid off Mr. Kavanaugh’s gambling debt, mortgage, country club fees and credit cards, would you? You do? Please tell us.

ETA: Vladimir Putin-aligned oligarchs, eh?

It’s not a boarding school.

it’s time to move on with or without her testimony.

In the normal world, that’s what’s called ā€œbad faith.ā€

Flake didn’t do anyone any favors when he suggested Ford’s hearing might be behind close doors. That would make it easy for the Republican frat boys to abuse her without consequence.

That’s kind of a harsh tone to take against the victim, eh?

It was an exclusive girls school attended by rich girls from privileged backgrounds. You know, where she learned to exercise her white female privilege. And where she didn’t have to mix with the … lower classes of … dubious heritage.

Good Faith is to Republican’ts as Dildos are to amoebas. Does. Not. Compute…

I guess you probably live in a cave somewhere. This ā€œain’t beanbagā€, as they say. I’m not the one who will ask those questions. But someone will.

Heh. The booby hatch claims another victim.

Actually they have no problem doing that in public.

Looks like Flake flaked out again. As a big pro-lifer, he’s ā€œconcernedā€ but not much. I’ll again suggest WV Repub Sen. Shelley Capito, a Planned Parenthood supporter, is more likely to vote against BK. Is she receiving enough constituent pressure? Call, email, fax Capito ā€˜s office. Manchin is winning re-election while Trump’s support is waning in WV.

Gee, Nick, not a lot of compassion here for someone who not only went through a trauma, but felt debilitating shame. Why don’t you ask one of the women you know if she’s been date raped? I’m going to guess and bet you know one, although she probably won’t tell you because it’s TRAUMATIC AS HELL, and you don’t seem like the kind of guy who might understand.

You don’t tell anyone, you feel shame (misplaced), and you walk around pretending it didn’t happen for a very long time. Why? Because of men like you.

Nick’s a well-known troll around here. Ignore his provocations. He wants to derail the conversation again.

And if they do the Senate is lost to Republicans this year and maybe many years to come.
