Amazing how many retired former white Republican politicians who ran for Prez or VP, (Sarah Palin comes to mind), get so much Sunday morning air time, while former elected Presidents, (Bush1 and Bush 2, even Clinton and Carter) and former and current VP’s (Gore/Biden) get zero time on the Sunday shows. Then watch how many of these former Republican white candidates try to make the problems of this nation look like a race war instead of dealing with income inequity and issues like minimum wage or equal voter opportunity.

Just to clean up the transcription here, because the quote doesn’t make sense otherwise, Dyson said “Most black people who commit crimes against other black people go to jail,” not “no black people.” I used to try to be understanding about how much pressure the staff worked under but I have to join the chorus and say it’s not that hard to catch these things, sheesh. Just read it over carefully before you hit the clicky, folks.

Oh, man, yes: “White police officers won’t be there if you weren’t killing each other 70 percent of the time.” Imagine Rudy’s reaction if somebody said to him, “People wouldn’t think of the Mafia as an Italian thing if so many of you weren’t Mafiosi.”

This is an egregious error because the entire argument is moot with the Dyson misquote. I, too,
am losing my patience with poor editing and non-existent proof reading.

Dyson is being quoted. The sentence reads, “Can I say this, first of all, no black people who commit crimes against other black people go to jail.” What is missing is the comma after the word “no” in which he contests what Giuliani is saying. When you add the comma, as the writer of this article should have done, it reflects Prof. Dyson’s accurate retort. When you read it without the comma, it looks like he’s saying no black people go to jail for committing crimes…which is ludicrous. I had to do a double-take myself when I read this.

TPM needs an good editor badly.

See, now, that’s just a reflection of the fact that we still have a very segregated society. Most murders occurs between people who know each other, so most whites are killed by whites, and most blacks are killed by blacks.

If only we could achieve a more color-blind society, but still have the NRA, that racial murder divide would be erased. We can dream, can’t we?

There may have to be some more complicated math here, but if there was true equality among killing, 70% of whites would still be murdered by other whites, while only 13% of blacks would be killed by blacks. So according to Rudy, white people are much further along in achieving the murder equity dream.

This article headline actually kind of cleaned up President 911’s racist comment a bit. The headline paraphrases the actual quote of “you” weren’t killing each other all the time with ‘blacks.’ The fact that a guy could be a semi viable presidential candidate, a welcome guest on popular network television AND some one who’s shorthand for the entire black race (he holds in such ill regard) is the well dressed and spoken college professor siting next to him who also happens o be African American is incredible to me.

Along that line of expression, the only reason any black mother has to go and stand up for their childrens’ safety in school or in church is because I keep mass killing them and molesting them. You see I am a white guy so I like to refer to all white guys as “I.”

I just went back and actually played the video…(I should have done that first but hey, its fucking MTP).

MattPA you are 100% right. The line that was quoted in the article isn’t even an accurate transcript. Its completely made-up words Prof. Dyson did not say. To make it appear like its verbatim by putting it in quotes, when he said no such thing, is journalistic malpractice. Really bad stuff.

What’s funny however is watching Toady Todd lose control of the discussion because he won’t shut Giuliani up long enough to allow Prof. Dyson his time to make his point without being interrupted…and when their disagreement escalates, Todd wants to shut down the debate altogether. I quit watching all Sunday morning shows. They’re altogether awful.

Always an ass, sure, but I’m not sure “stone cold racist” captures the sort of functional racial bigotry’s typified mayors of large NE cities for decades. Rudy’s racism is Nixonian Republican.

WTF is Giuliani talking about? Seven % of blacks kill the other 93%? Well damn!! Does that 7% buy all the guns and ammo in the country? Or is all this killing done some other way? But damn it sure looks like those white officers are doing a piss poor job of preventing crime.
