In New Zealand, they had harsher gun policies passed a week after the Christchurch shooting. In Germany, the Bundestag took up the issue of digitally manipulated video a decade ago, pretty much as soon as they saw the digitally-added yellow line on the field in sports tv and extrapolated. Digital placement of whatever was strictly regulated as it is inherently deceptive. In the US, congress sends thoughts and prayers to the loved ones of shot persons, and presumably sees synthetic deceptions as already covered in FTC truth in advertising rules. They just aren’t worth the enforcement.

I think that the key word is “former” as in “former diplomat”. While this might technically be a campaign finance violation, it should not be considered a big deal unless this guy is acting on behalf of a foreign government.
IMHO, we can’t criminalize the volunteering of information by private citizens, even if they are foreigner, any more than we should criminalize asking questions of a foreign citizen.
Maybe if Buttigieg takes a sudden leap in the polls, Rudy will go to Afghanistan looking for dirt. That would be an excellent idea, Rudy. Look in Ghazni Province, I’m sure you’ll find it lively and exciting.

I am 52 but work mostly with people 20 or more years younger than me. Unfortunately many of them are completely disengaged from any political understanding. Not all, but most. But then again most US citizens don’t bother to vote. I hope the danger to our country will bring them out to vote in 2020
After Afghanistan maybe Rudy should drop on in Doha on the Afghan, US, and Taliban peace talks.
