Actually, no, the teacher would not have been cool with that. Had she been a white student with an uzi, yeah, everything would have been okay.
Iām on the defense side of this child, however, her name is public because her father chose to discuss the incident with the media, HE made it public.
Letās not start with the lynch mob mentality.
What purpose would it serve to have the teachers name here? So the internet mob can harass her for being an insensitive jerk?
Yeah, Iām sure the teacher will later say something along the lines of āIām sorry for that āup yours, n***erā remark.ā

This is going to affect dynamics of āraceā throughout the United States. For one thing, Muslims are not all that easily recognizable. Relatedly, Muslims dovetail in physical appearance with two groups which have been in sustained conflict for hundreds of years: people designated as āblackā and āwhiteā. Further, the Latino community would be wise to downplay some effort to play up to Goober by acting anti-Muslimā¦
āCarlosā can look remarkably like āHakeemā to Goober.
And Goober (especially if heās away from the farm and is olive skinned) can look like āJamalā to Cleetus.
She was joking, but that does not matter. There is a ZERO tolerance policy in schools, so you donāt joke about that stuff. Period. Real stupid.
I do love that the students gasped at her ignorant and racist comment. Iād say a mild suspension might be in order.

Yep. Anyone who does that to a child in his or her charge ought to be hounded out of her job if her principal doesnāt have the good sense to fire her.

If she would have responded in that manner you can place bets that the District/School Administration would have suspended her. Had my youngest and others in his class defend a new immigrant girl in 9th grade years ago when a visiting teacher made fun of her English language skills. The District/School Administration came down hard on the kids and allowed the bigoted teachers comments to stand. I was very proud at the following District School Board meeting when a vast majority of people from all facets of the community buried the District Administration with negative comments on how they handled the situation.

There are a few million teachers in this country. Is it big news if one of them makes a very inappropriate joke? Is there any reason to believe that the school is not supporting the family and making amends for this situation?
