He may or may not be an asshole, it depends on the time of day and your opinion, but he is most definitely not a “self hating Jew.” He is actually a devoted family man and a very savvy businessman and marketing genius. After all, Kiss was always more about marketing than music, and he’s done pretty well with that. I will say he does hold himself in very high regard.

I wonder: Is “Mick” a slur? I have never considered it a slur. My dad used the term, and I knew him to be very sensitive about all things Irish. I got the impression that it was something like a term of endearment to him.
Sorry but every example that Simmons referenced is a slur.

I think he was just trying to make a point. Do we really have to freak out every time somebody uses a racial epithet, no matter the reason?

I’ll admit, my reaction to the title was, “Oh, shit! Gene’s droppin’ bombs?” Then I read the article and was impressed by his cogent use of slurs.
I thought the title was clever, not unlike "Be Prepared… For A Thoughtful Response.

Second, you really should maybe spend a few seconds on Google before you comment on things you know nothing about. A big reason that Kiss has had so many members besides Simmons and Paul Stanley is that they don’t put up with drug abuse.
Depends. I have a good friend who’s Italian who routinely uses the word “Dago”, but I never would.
Simmons simply illustrated his point. The Washington team name is as insulting and disrespectful as if they were called the Washington Niggers, and Snyder’s defense equally absurd as would be a defense of that N name. With apologies to my Black friends and other Blacks, I had to make the point in a way that the blind can see.
The origin the the word used in the team name is the color of the skull-side of the scalp once retrieved to collect the colonial bounty on Native American scalps.
