Discussion: Fox's Chris Wallace, Shep Smith Cast Doubt On Trump's Iran Strike Claims

Trump tweeted that “We were cocked & loaded to retaliate”…

Of course, in Trump’s case, that would be “half-cocked”.

Doesn’t add up? That Il Duce is running an amateur con, feigning empathy? Nothing since he broke the treaty adds up. With an attention span of a fruit fly, his real conflict is wavering between Bolton/Pompeo and leveller heads. The ‘go’ factor is likely net electoral votes, not empathy or consequences.

We can make up a new one. How about 'Shroomed, broomed and groomed"?

John Reed’s on-the-ground reporting on the October 1917 Russian Revolution, Ten Days that Shook the World, details the collapse of a 400-year-old dynasty and the provisional Kerensky government. Russians took a leap of faith into the political abyss, becoming a superpower but never a normal country. Trump’s 600 seconds to Armageddon revealed the rot and poor staging of our Potemkin government that doesn’t even bother to go through the motions of filling posts any longer. Did we just witness Ten Minutes that Shook the World?

I think its time to consider Occams razor. The most logical explanation – in this White House – is that Bolton and Haspel used this as an opportunity to present Trump with a fait accompli — Trump doubtless consulted with the Saudis, Putin, etc, and all of them told him that it was okay to do a little attack, but not a big one, And that is what he did.

And Bolton and Haspel, whose idea of a “little” attack on Iran involved hundreds of casualties (“But Mr. President! We didn’t bomb Tehran!”) decided to provoke Iran into taking very serious retaliatory measures that would force Trump to escalate further…

Wallace explained that Pentagon officials would’ve fully laid out the predicted casualties in their initial briefing with Trump on a potential strike with Iran.

I am perfectly willing to believe that Trump wasn’t paying attention to the initial briefing, however. Or that he forgot.

Fox News is corrupt, sleazy and full of christian conservative sexual predators and racists. I don’t care what they say.

Which is why I doubt that Putin would have said okay in the first place. He knows full well that this situation is a powder keg, and no one should even just smoke a cigarette for fear of explosion. In this context, there is no such thing as a little strike.

Now, if Bolton, et. al., were to have convinced him to move a little too fast, without really considering the Russian angle, and it was later made evident to him . . . that I would believe. (Distract the public from bad polling, sir. Here, do this to look strong and divert attention.)

He ‘said’ nobody mentioned casualties until he asked; and he was so glad the General (whoever it was) called him SIR.

I think Tucker Carlson was the last person he talked to before he walked into the ‘go-ahead’ meeting and so he THREW the Pentagon under the bus (not giving him a complete briefing earlier in the day).

I said it earlier, I CRIED when I heard this yesterday morning if only because he is a toddler who is all about the ‘pretense’ of his absolute power.

Ka-BOOM. With special Trumpian ‘hand effects.’

Discussion: All Systems Go For Retaliatory Strike Against Iran — Until Trump Abruptly Pulled Back

THAT is hilarious. That really is.

JOHN KERRY is advising the Iranians to get themselves into the position of being bombed and THEY ARE LISTENING TO HIM.

Wow, I gotta hand it to ol’ Rush-bo.

Putin knows that Trump had to react, and the Iranians aren’t crazy. Putin would have told them “listen, Trump has to do something. So he’s gonna bomb the missile launchers used to take down the drone. We’ll replace it with a new one” and the Iranians would probably have been cool with it.

Remember, Putin wants Trump around for another four years – and making Trump look capable of acting in a rational manner on national security issues is crucial to Trump being re-elected. Putin is playing the long game here.

They’ll suck it in and be good soldiers.

Or maybe it was just a ‘dick thing’ and Two Scoops went limp. And Pompeo and Bolton pointed and laughed, Hurt feelings always play a part in Donnie’s decisions. And all this has to do with shooting down a drone? A drone!

Now ‘would’ the Iranians listen to an exemplar of JEWISHNESS (I don’t know if that is a word and I for one am really disgusted about the right-wing meme of the Evil Jew Soros) I don’t think so, but what do I know.

Somehow all the R-W conspiracies see to overlap and poor Mr. Soros is at the middle of them all, if you dig deeply enough into that particular mind set.

Is this to assume that Trump is losing Faux Noise as a megaphone???

I think I know the answer, but there is a doubt there.

So why stop suddenly? I can accept the idea of a pre-planned strike that has no real effect, but why not carry through with it? Who suddenly opposed it? Clearly Trump’s explanation isn’t valid. The idea that Putin made him call it off makes sense, as does the idea that it was never really going to happen at all.
