Discussion for article #245433
The battle of egos rages on. Fox boasting that they don’t report the news; they make it.
Blissful moment of silence from Trumpy reminds me of that five seconds when a toddler is turning red and winding up a good scream.
Rachel floated that idea last night. She mentioned that in all the polls that NBC considers legitimate Trump is leading, and suggested that the only thing of consequence that happened since those polls were released was the FOX debate.
As results poured in showing Trump underperforming in the Iowa caucuses, Fox News analysts hypothesized that Trump’s decision to skip last week’s GOP cost him dearly, according to a Media Matters round-up.
“A hypothesis (plural hypotheses) is a proposed explanation for a phenomenon. For a hypothesis to be a scientific hypothesis, the scientific method requires that one can test it.”
What these Fox persons posed is better described as “outofyourassethized”.
Baier ran with the theory
Obviously, Charles couldn’t…But, aren’t they forgetting the impact of an ongoing Happy Hour on Trump’s supporters as Caucus doors opened?
Here’s a quick reaction piece from 538 that says the skipped poll might have had in effect (but didn’t in New Hampshire) and the lame ground game might have too, but the problem more generally may simply be that “the dude just ain’t all that popular.” Thing is, an article from 538 tends to grapple with the multiple variables because they do that all day, every day. It’s the only way to even begin to get close to explaining complex stuff like this. TV people generally don’t do that grabbling because it doesn’t make good TV.
But many of us have long been skeptical of Trump’s ground game, and his campaign’s lack of seasoned organizers. That sort of thing shows up the most in caucus states like Iowa, and I think that is precisely what happened.
He dropped from over 1/3 in the polls to just under 1/4, or roughly 10 points. I am sorry, but that sort of result I am going to look at more systemic reasons like a poor ground game that only got a hold of a voter database 2 weeks before the election, before I start looking to a highly publicized no-show on Fox.
@MattinPA To me, weak ground game and not being all that popular are pretty much the same thing. Trump was/is relying heavily on people who have never voted…and apparently quite a few of them kept their cherry last night. That combination is going to be a problem for him everywhere going forward, and is unlikely to be fixed this late in the game.
If a frog had a glass ass would it breake every time he jimped? Add the Trump no show to the list of unanswered questions that will haunt us throughout our lives. I am not sure I will sleep tonight.
Trump’s everything anchor men dream of…immaculate French cuffs, shoes, Ferrari babe trophy wife, great snowdrifts of reddish/blonde something or other sprouting from eyebrow and pate, gold-encrusted stuff…so what he failed to eat Tokyo.
A lot of this speculation is based on what I believe to be a faulty premise, i.e., that if the voters had been subjected to yet another dose of Trump, he would have attracted more supporters. This is what is known as “assuming a fact not in evidence.”
Wound meets salt. Film at 11.
Well, you’re not going to get an invite to the National Prayer Breakfast with that kind of attitude, pal.
Rallies dont equal votes!
Followed by the water skiing squirrel, natch.
Fox talking heads aren’t particularly well known for their ability to reason.
Rallies where your volunteers are writing down names and emails and NOT entering them into a database certainly don’t equate votes.
Fox News To Trump: Skipping Our Debate Sure Cost You In Iowa, Buddy!
Yeah right. Don’t let anybody question you relevance.
Ralph you are the best!! Can I steal “outofyourassethized”.
Twiggy says thank you!
