They are happy because she is the weakest of the serious candidates in a national election. She wants to make the election about race, and so does Trump. The Republicans would be overjoyed with an opponent whose reach does not extend beyond regular viewers of MSNBC. I think Trump is unpopular enough to lose to any of the Dem candidates but, with Harris as the nominee, team D has a tough row to hoe.
So now Biden thinks saying he supported states right is honorable.
Clearly tone deaf.
States rights have historically been used to demean & humiliate blacks & halt any racial equality particularly in the south.
Jim Crow laws were “states rights”
Biden needs to put the shovel down, he is burying himself.
Yes Trump is a white supremacist using racial polarization as political
Cudgel
Harris is not…
Harris responded to Biden touting his prowess at working with vile segregationists, against bussing
Your comment is like blaming the victim of rape because of the clothes she wore.
-
Trump would like nothing more than to run against Harris. He wouldn’t debate her. His racism and misogyny would find traction. He’d call her angry. He’d call her racist.
-
I don’t think Harris’ debate performance moves her significantly. Bennett’s takedown of Biden–pointing out that Obama and Biden made the Bush tax regime permanent in order to get Republican support for a bailout–was just as damaging.
-
Biden is already struggling. He’d be much stronger against Trump, but by then he may have divided the Democratic voters, most of whom are not enthused by an old guy who wants to turn the clock back to the days when Democratic presidents thought it was their job to legislate as moderate Republicans.
Instead of going all OCD over that splinter, F&F, howsabout you deal with the log, your other friend Prez. Rac§ist.
You are simply wrong and can review the tape to confirm that. She is the one who brought it up in the debate. At this point it is Biden’s job to weather pot-shots from the other candidates and she landed a blow on him. I suspect he will be OK because people who are watching political debates at this point are either diehard partisans or lunatics. Also, his answer was not so bad for the reasons Josh pointed out last night.
Identity politics is the riskiest path to take in this election and she doesn’t have the policy chops to make her case on other issues.
I never thought I’d agree with Fox and Friends, but even a stopped clock… Well, anyway, Harris nailed Biden last night. She knifed him straight in the gut and he bled all over the stage.
The thing is, this isn’t about how strong a candidate Harris is so much as about how vulnerable Biden was all along. People kept referring to Biden as “the safe bet” to beat Trump. He isn’t, and Harris showed us all why. If Harris was able to get Biden out of the way last night (and we’ll see how effective she was in a few days) then she did the Democrats, and the country, a big favor.
I know many will hate to be reminded of this, but the clock only has to turned back to Obama.
.
Neither can any other human being who is sick of racist pieces of shit like Joe Biden.
Does TPM think this is clever, trying to conflate long-overdue criticism of Joe Biden with being a right-winger?
Weak.
And Clinton and Carter.
That’s exactly the purpose of this article - to make us feel bad for agreeing with Fox News.
So transparent.
If Fox News is jumping all over Biden, that just reinforces his status as being the biggest threat to Trump…
Unfortunately, Biden is also the biggest threat to himself.
What Fox and Friends thinks, or what Trump thinks, of the Democratic debates is not newsworthy. It is all just their attempts at controlling the narrative, and TPM shouldn’t oblige them.
I disagree.
Harris is looking like the candidate that could best reconstitute the Obama coalition and beat Trump in 2020. I would have assumed Biden, as Obama’s VP, could do that, but after last night it looks like he’s still running his 1988 Presidential campaign.
Obama ran on the economy, not identity politics.
Point 2 should be Obama and Biden.
And the difference between that and “civil rights” is … ?
Just out of curiosity, who do your feel are the other serious candidates?
