Discussion: Former Mississippi Gov. Refuses To Give His Opinion On Confederate Flag

What “type of person” you ask? Why, the Hayley Barbour type, obviously: Republican party boss, Boss Hogg imitator, Grand Wizard Lobbyist, and former governor of the one state most able to lay claim to possibly being more racists.

I suggest we ought to feel the Barbour sticking his muzzle into this tragedy is a Good Thing for proving the point.

Mississippi and its erstwhile governor are nothing more than withering vestiges of a dying breed: unapologetic racists who long for the “good old days” when blacks were slaves and knew their place. Mississippi often leads the nation in unwed teen pregnancies, obesity, and is nearly always last in education. Is anyone surprised that this backwater cesspool of a state is still pining away for Jim Crow and segregation? Barbour is a bloated boob who should not even be on TV for any reason. And as far as him not being offended by the confederate flag, Larry Flynt isn’t offended by porn either.

I bet the Weight Watchers’ flag can really inflame his temper…

Lawwdy’! Lawwdy’! Boss Hog Barbour isn’t offended by the Confederate flag. Oh…do bring me muh’ smelling salts. I must take to muh’ fainting couch!"

In related news, the sun is hot and water is wet.

Oh here Haley! We’ve designed a new Confederate flag …just for you and your ilk:

You’re welcome!

I’m seeing Barbour in a revival of Fiddler on the Roof: ♫ “Se-di-tionnnn . . . SEDITION!” ♫

Yep, and is in Blue states would have paid for it… All to be sure the raw numbers of Americans helped by ACA are as low as possible, with the added bonus of blaming Obama for not covering them with Medicaid expansion…

Yeah, probably not the guy you need to ask for his opinion…but its Morning Smoke and Mirrors…so you know, they had to go there without of course mentioning Barbour’s ties to those White Citizen’s Councils and their overt racist ideology of maintaining white privilege. Had they done so, it almost would have been fucking breaking news. Instead, they got nothing but more mealy-mouthed prevaricating from one more Republican wingnut.

It should offend you. That it doesn’t is a pretty clear symptom if the problem. What that flag stood and stands for doesn’t offend the clueless, the indifferent and the bigots.

Not so fast, my friend. Louisiana is the undisputed leader in murder rate per capita and has been for quite some time. In 2013, Louisiana had a murder rate of 10.8 per 100,000 inhabitants. Mississippi was a paltry third with 6.5. The national average was 4.5. This is one race to the bottom that Mississippi is well behind on.

I wonder how many teats were on the sow that spawned this motherfucking racist pig?

Careful there.
One more casual utterance of the ‘S-word’-- and you may inadvertantly summon the spirit of DugFmJamal.

Haley, I recall clearly when you had your lobbying office at 1275 Pennsylvania, NW. I remember clearly you and your interns stepping over a homeless vet. Too much of effort to waddle your fat ass around him.

Precisely my reaction; a confederate is not offended by the confederate flag…

“I am not offended at all by our flag or the Confederate flag for that matter but some people are,” Barbour said."

Haley, if you aren’t offended by your confederate flag then you aren’t offended by racism.

Why would anyone be offended by a blood-stained symbol of treason and slavery?

Murder can be a strenuous activity… So the obesity and heart disease rate does have a positive side I guess…
