Discussion: Flake Warns He'll Force Tariff Vote By Blocking Trump Judicial Nominations

“I do think that unless we can actually exercise something other than just approving the President’s executive calendar, his nominees, judges, that we have no reason to be there,” Flake said. “So I think myself and a number of senators, at least a few of us, will stand up and say ‘Let’s not move any more judges until we get a vote, for example, on tariffs.’”

Is this… Is Flake actually… planning to DO something? I’ll believe it when I see it.

“Congress ought to stand up and say ‘No, we’re not going to do that. You can’t use Section 232 to claim that Canada is a national security threat,’” he said. “That’s not who we are.”

Congress at work? This is how it’s done?

Really??? Well then, against what other policies might you use this tactic ??

Don’t exert yourself too much Jeff, it’s almost August.

here’s another

But to help Trump accomplish that feat, the White House and Senate Republicans further changed the game on confirmations. They brushed aside or relaxed long-standing customs meant to give senators more say — and more sway — in who gets lifetime tenure as a federal judge. And Senate Republicans start 2018 intent on further streamlining the process to fill more than 120 vacancies on federal district courts.

Well of course this rubber stamp evil congress could actually do their jobs and stand up for the American people instead of the lying cheating traitor-in-chief and impeach him but you know, that would take being American first and evildoers second and that’s now how republicans roll. Sooooooooooooooooo
next…

ps- if this Congress doesn’t stop funding the border travesty they are all more to blame than Dotard

"McConnell has called appointing lifetime conservatives to federal courts his “top priority.” "
Yeah, it’s priority number one in Mitch’s life-long pursuit of destroying our system of government.

He will not block anything that Trump wants. What a liar.

Though this battle clearly ait over yet, Trump’s unexpected win* in 2016 was clearly a feather in Mitch McConnell’s hat. He took two clear as day risks and he’s just now paying for em. With 90% of modern day Republicans willing to ‘ride or die’ with Trump, the next Congress has to be forced to care.

Just what I need more of on my tv - a nonconformist conformist Senator from Arizona who ultimately folds to toe the party line.

OT, ladies and gentlemen, but a direct result of Trump’s (and Sessions’) war on the US Constitution and our rights, please go to YouTube and see what’s going down in Leon Valley, TX. No hyperbole, the cops are literally assaulting citizen journalists, confiscating their phones, arresting them on entirely fabricated felony charges and impounding cars from private parking lots. It’s completely out of control and the police chief is a psychopath. Here’s a summary video, but there are many more from yesterday when the police chief claimed he was going to hold a “press conference”, then once the citizens gathered, he bum rushed them and arrested most of them on totally bogus charges. It’s a major developing story and we can use all the publicity possible to expose this tyrannical police chief and corrupt city government.

Life’s Flake’s but a walking shadow, a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more; it is a tale.
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

I’ll believe any of them have the spine for that when I see it.

Flake is just as likely to vote tomorrow to change the Senate rules to block judicial holds.

Jeff Flake is a lot of talk. Let’s see if there’s any meaningful action to accompany his concern!
