Flake missed his opening to say there is no reason for Congress to fund a wall that Trump promised U.S. tax payers would not cost them a dime because Mexico.
“Why should he go back on this promise, which was very popular among Republicans in places like your state?” CNN’s Dana Bash asked Flake.
“Because it would be the right thing to do,” Flake replied.
“…and because the GOP was just lying out its ass to a pig-ignorant base of racist rubes who believe anything.”
Generally I don’t hold with GOPer stances but in this case Flake got it right. And I’m queasy posting that.
“racist rubes who will believe anything” doesn’t come close.
His (primary) polls must be terrible if he’s willing to abandon electability in order to at least occasionally say or do the right thing.
I despised Flake all through his campaign but he has been a bit of a snowflake of late. (pun intended).
Flake said, “The people in Arizona tend to elect independent-minded, principled senators.”
He then went on to say, “But being a Republican, I am neither independent-minded nor principled, so I guess my Senate career is over.”
I bet this is gonna go over great with Trump. After all, he’s well known for accepting criticism with equanimity.
The Washington Generals are never meant to actually beat The Harlem Globetrotters. That uncontested shot-not taken, the pass-intercepted?, a heartbreaking loss by inches? Part of the false dramatics.
This is the guy who voted for the GOP plan to yank health care away from 24 million, right? How about putting your votes where your lectures are, Flake.
Will Trump sign his wall when it’s done?
He’s trailing the dingbat-bitch KWard by at least 7 in latest primary poll with more contestants in the wings.
Fakey’s trying to appeal to the very few sensible righties/moderate D’s but his ass is in a wringer for the time being.
Who is a likely D candidate?
It’s a wall, Jeff. A wall.
All these months, and Republicans are still churning this tired, tattered cause, every day getting new media confirmation that the Party is dedicated to giving its base what it wants. Fighting incredible odds. Battling (itself) every day.
A wall.
But… but…
It’s a wall, Jeff. Your Party might or might not build it, but it’s a wall. W-A-L-L. A wall. One, whole wall. Tomorrow, it’ll be the same goddamn wall.
Jeff, you act like you work for the government. You’re in the organized crime industry now.
It will be an electronic fence, like Rand Paul proposed. I never figured out how he planned to get the Mexicans to wear the little shock collars that would make it effective.
I don’t agree with Flake on many substantive issues, but he’s right.
Flake is enjoying playing Bad Boy of the GOP. I’m fine supporting him in that without necessarily supporting him in general.
