Sanguine? Nah, More like abject terror at what’s coming?
Think about it a bit longer Sen Flake and I think you’ll figure it out yourself.
Even when he pretends to not pretend, he’s pretending.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) seems to be showing no signs of folding to the retiring senator’s demands
Mitch knows it won’t matter in a few weeks. He’ll have the majority that the Kochs and Adelsons bought him. And Flake knows it, too. This is just PR for Flake’s future, and the comic part is that he’s too afraid to come any closer to flirting with decency. This is the closest thing to a spine that Flake can summon, practically on his way out the door.
Gah. I’d like to like this guy, because he playacts constrained virtue that effectively. It’s more attractive than the straightforwardly rank hypocrisy that all the others wallow in, if you had to choose. But it’s still pretending. This innocent-seeming pretending not to know why they do what they do is a different form of fakery and annoying in its own right. There’s an elephant in the room, Jeff, and the thing with elephants is everyone knows when they’re in a damn room, fuck. Gimme a break and just go home. You’ve not-done enough. The party will get real when it has no other choice, and not before.
Great minds again, although bravo for the brevity.
Oh spare us the feigned sincerity you hack
My disbelief is how sanguine the GOP has been about the ENTIRE tRUmp era.
Repubes have a Faustian bargain with… who the fuck knows, but I do know that I will loathe them 'till my dying day, and I will teach my kids to loathe them as well
Benedict McConnell deserves hell for this
If he gums up judicial appointments for a while, that’s a good thing.
I remain torn on whether to grade Flake on an A-F scale or whether this course is pass/fail. Graduations between Flake’s language and Lindsay Graham’s are important and meaningful, right? And yet this does not meet the bar.
Maybe I need to grade on the scale of pass/fail/fail minus minus. You’re still failing, Jeff, but it could be worse.
(Guess which one you are, Lindsay!)
Sen. McCarthy is rolling in his grave, that the communist enablers would turn out to be the heart of his own party.
Flake:
I don’t know how we can be so sanguine about what’s going on over at the Department of Justice in terms of the Mueller probe
Should we give him the benefit of the doubt and assume this is a rhetorical question, that does not require an answer.
Ah, the courage of the politician on his way out the door.
Where the fuck was Jeff Flake for the last 8 years? (sucking at the Republican Teat for all it’s worth, thats where.)
Too little, too late Mr. Flake. You will be remembered as a spineless toady who kowtowed to the Republican leadership whenever they asked, not as an independent voice of reason.
Flake is, once again, late to the garden party, i.e. the garden party that is opposed to the criminal enterprise known as Donald J. Trump.
He makes me laugh. Guess he’s forgetting what a mealy-mouthed apologist he was before he decided not to run again.
He is as dangerous as Kasisch with his “let me stand up to the crazy”, but at least Flake doesn’t refer to female college students as “co-eds”.
Hey, Jeff maybe your GOP brethren are being COMPLICIT because they all know, despite it falling out of the MSM attention span that the GRU didn’t just hack the DNC. They got the RNC too, remember? Maybe Jeff can work up a surprised/concerned expression, it worked so well in the elevator, over Lindsay Graham’s behavior since Trump got elected.
How? Easy. Because they’re no longer loyal to this country, have entirely abandoned the social contract on which its existence was founded and depends and believe that it must be burned down in order to be remade in their image and under their sole and permanent control.
Nah, McCarthy didn’t give a crap about commies. He’s just like the current crop of slime bags, standing against whatever the side of reason is, looking for any cudgel he could use to manipulate the villagers.
This guy’s the definition of willful ignorance when it comes to the behavior of the Republican party.
