Discussion: Fla. Elections Official Says She Removed Mosque As Polling Site Over Threats

Could we add how many Christian churches are polling sites in this county to the story? Thanks.

Sad that it had to happen, but you have to take the anonymous rednecks’ threats seriously.

Religious freedom for all!!! (Unless you’re Muslim. Or non-Christian in general.)

EEeeewwww… Muslim cooties if I vote there…

Seriously, I vote at a Greek orthodox church because they have a meeting hall. It wouldn’t be any different at that mosque.

We use absentee voting because they stopped using the schools and went to religious sites of all sorts. My Lutheran pastor dad, from the 1940’s on, would never allow voting in the building just in case it discouraged another religion’s voter…for some unknown reason he didn’t want to disenfranchise Roman Catholics in the neighborhood. :sunglasses:

80 churches and 5 synagogues.

And so it begins…

nothing says their failure to assimilate like a redneck refusing to vote at a Mosque… right Donnie?

The Florida Family Association applauded the move, claiming that having a mosque as a polling place would be “unfair to voters and people seeking office” by suppressing voter turnout.

And no wonder. Who wants to risk insidious Islam cooties while voting? I vote in a Lutheran church, and the craving for hot dish lasts at least a week.

Randall Wayne Henshaw and Kenny “Mad Dog” Bodine are happy to finally read the mosque has been certified by the state as an undesirable structure.

True, but the ambience in a church is so much more inviting while waiting to vote than in a mosque. I ask you, how many places can you see multiple depictions of a flailed human nailed to a cross?

So they want to make it easier/more comforting for right-wing xenophobes to vote. Meanwhile, other states do all they can to make it harder for minorities to vote. Gee, no coincidental pattern there, right?

Because GOD FORBID any so-called Christian or basic under educated person LEARN anything while they are going to vote! We certainly don’t want to EXPOSE you to any other culture/school/church except your own…it might open you MIND.

Some people take their children to polling places. Do mosques offer dinosaur petting zoos to keep them occupied, ones like the churches have??? Huh??? Grrr!!!

This country will never admit it, but is right full of bigots. Always has been. The bs about bout big hearted Americans is just that. If you worded a polling question carefully, Americans would probably approve of some forms of slavery like chain gangs and debtors prisons serving private enterprise. It went on in the South for many years.

Would be better as: Freedom from religion for all!!!

The Florida Family Association was doubtless upset at having to wash their feet to vote.
