Discussion: Fla. Elections Official Says She Removed Mosque As Polling Site Over Threats

Next up, dress codes: No hijabs; no turbans or beards, etc.

Men wearing powder blue leisure suits, however, will be allowed to vote twice. And anyone sporting a red Chinese-made baseball hat will automatically have their votes trebled.

The Florida Family Association (FFA) is a Tampa, Florida-based non-profit organization founded by David Caton. It campaigns against homosexuality and Islamic-American relations. The organization is classified as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.[1] In 2013 the New York Times noted FFA was a one-man Christian fundamentalist organization.[2]

Emirates Warn Against Traditional
Clothing Abroad After Man Is
Mistaken for Terrorist in Ohio

By YONETTE JOSEPH JULY 3, 2016

The United Arab Emirates warned its citizens on Sunday to avoid wearing
traditional clothing when traveling abroad, apparently in response to an
episode in Ohio last week in which a businessman from Abu Dhabi, dressed in
robes and a head scarf, was confronted by the police at gunpoint because a
hotel clerk thought he might be a terrorist.
The businessman was identified as Ahmed alMenhali, 41, by the
Cleveland chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations. Relatives of a
front desk clerk at the Fairfield Inn and Suites in Avon, Ohio, called 911 on
Wednesday to report that the clerk had panicked after seeing a man in robes
and “full head dress” in the hotel lobby, speaking on a phone and “pledging his
allegiance or something to ISIS.”

It’s wrong and I don’t like seeing this, but the way things are now, the Mosque probably stood a not insignificant risk of being bombed or damaged by a hater.

You could guess that from the “Family” in the name. It’s a Republican dog whistle.

"We were very happy to serve the community,” Alhalabi said, noting that the mosque also serves as a hurricane shelter, feeds the homeless, and works with the juvenile justice department.

If the churches weren’t so busy making statements about how odious it is to have a mosque in their community, they, too, might do some of these things.
It might be interesting to see how many people are willing to take shelter there in the case of a hurricane.

I was going to start an organization against people with fully loaded grocery carts wheeling them into the “Ten item or less” lane. I gave up when several business consultants told me there weren’t currently any computer storage servers big enough to handle the group’s potential member lists.

Let’s not lose sight of the fact that calling in bomb threats to any polling place is voter suppression, voter intimidation, and an attempt to interfere with an election.

Having to enter a religious institution (and let’s be clear, that’s almost certainly going to be a lobby or a parish hall) where you would not feel comfortable attending a religious ceremony is not. A homeschooler having to vote at the local public elementary school is not. A Scientologist having to vote at Mental Health and Mental Retardation offices is not.

I don’t envy the election officials who have to balance public safety with access. Their goal ought to be to make sure that everyone eligible who wants to vote can do so easily, if not comfortably. What the terrorists here don’t likely get is that these threats to a polling location are a flat-out attack on democracy, not Islam.

Thank God our democratic system can still allow fear to call the shots, so to speak.

they have to wear white patent leather belts and white patent leather slip on shoes too… all exterior fabric has to be polyester…

I actually had the white shoes and matching belts listed in there originally. LOL

Can’t wait until hurricane season.

“Casserole.”

The Florida Family Association applauded the move, claiming that having a mosque as a polling place would be “unfair to voters and people seeking office” by suppressing voter turnout.

No sense of irony among these people, I see.

“When we received a call that indicated individuals planned to impede voting and maybe even call in a bomb threat”

Nothing speaks to Christian love and tolerance like calling in a bomb threat against the infidels.

This is called the heckler’s veto. So the story doesn’t seem to indicate whether the local police or the FBI are investigating the terrorist threat against our elections.

Click on the Florida Family Association link and you’ll have the opportunity to send a canned e-mail of thanks.

It can easily be edited, or re-written in its entirety. Have fun!

Phuck the so-called Florida Family Assocation! The only difference between this big crowd of jerk-off’s and Al Qaeda or ISIS is that haven’t started lopping off heads yet! This is a American jihadist group running around using fancy words to sucker in the poor, the uneducated, easiely scared and the elderly to send them money!

Still does… in my small TN city/county you have roadside cleanup, weed control, mowing parks, trash pickup, pothole repair and I’m sure I missed some.
