Discussion: Five Points On The Fuss Over The Planned Parenthood Fetal Tissue Harvesting Video

What an idiotic—and wholly typical—comment for you to make.

This is a heavily edited video designed to make Planned Parenthood look bad.
What PP is doing is perfectly legal and perfectly ethical.

This is just another smear job from the loony right-wing anti-choice morons who know they can depend on suckers like you to believe their bullshit lies.

And of course the group has no assets, and will quietly fold in a few months after its job is done, having accidentally lost all its records of correspondence with the people who funded it.

It’s the conservative way!

And, of course, don’t forget the conservative freakout early in President Obama’s first term when Rahm Emanuel supposedly said the same thing.

The conservative mantra: Rules are for thee, not for me.

The forced-birth advocates are the most pernicious form of conservative.

It’s really all they got, so expect a lot more.

If true then you are probably the only person on the planet who is.

Just another of your typically ridiculous comments.

Pro-abortion is as apt a way to put it as anti-choice. We all should know what it means.

Anyway, as a person who regularly donates to Planned Parenthood and the Guttmacher Institute, it’s obvious to me these guys got stung. It doesn’t matter who’s responsible or whether or not the tape is edited; this is harmful to the cause. It’s bad “optics,” as we cognoscenti like to say as often as we can…

Everyone should try to be more careful about setups like this, is all there is to be learned from this.

What a ridiculous statement. Don’t be a brick, you know full well that the poster’s intent is to acknowledge the civil rights implications of this issue. And why kowtow and give credence to anti-abortionists? Pro-abortion is clearly a women’s rights issue and being anti-abortion ignores the mother’s rights over her own body all together. The public and folks like you should just butt out!

Not to mention, they get to punish women for having sex and get to keep them in their place, making it harder to get an education or succeed in a well paying job.

The meeting was between professional researchers. We need to stand firm with PP, they should not be punished or be cajoled into dumbing down a conversation between research professionals.

Why should we pussy-out when we are clearly on the right side of this made up controversy?

We should have courage behind our convictions!

Not true. I’m also pro-abortion. Abortions save lives. Overpopulation kills. Childhood poverty kills. Childhood neglect kills. The only way to prevent poverty and neglect killing American children, in the face of a right-wing government that refuses to support programs to alleviate those ills, is to provide safe and affordable abortions.

Anti-abortionists are killers, not just of the doctors they sometimes shoot, and of the women who die from illegal abortions where legal ones aren’t available, and of the women who suicide because they’re pregnant and can’t face it, but of the children themselves who are forced into doomed lives.

I merely meant that rules of acceptable discourse inside a profession are different than those when speaking outside of it. I used to work in a hospital, and at first it was shocking to me the things that nurses, in particular, would say about (some) patients. Didn’t mean they weren’t compassionate in the exercise of their care, but I came to believe that their conversation callousness was a way to blow off steam, which they could only comfortably do among their peers.

I am pro-abortion because pro-abortion is synonymous with a women’s right to control her own body. How would you feel if you had to face what women face with abortion when you masterbate?

I will not kowtow to propagandists!

Hatin on women will be a big part of 2016. Hillary vs. traditional family values and all that. Sick shit.

The meeting WAS between professionals!! At least this was PP’s perception. They had no reason to suspect a setup. One party lied. So who is the guilty party?

Don’t give these b*stards an inch!

OK, I understand where you’re coming from, but that’s a pro-choice stance. A woman should have a choice about whether or not to proceed with a pregnancy.

A pro-abortion stance would be like that of China, where women have no choice but are forced to abort their second, third or subsequent children.

That’s why you might want to use a different term, unless you advocate forced abortion.

That’s pro-choice. Pro-abortion sounds as if you prefer abortion as a treatment for every pregnancy.

How naive do conservatives think we are that we would believe they are this naive?

As if we all haven’t known that the umbilical cords of all pregnancies haven’t been harvested and used for research for nearly a century. What were conservatives thinking was being done with any human tissue left over from medical procedures? From where do they think medical breakthroughs and DNA knowledge comes?

All the media has been talking about for the past decade is how fetal DNA has made cures for some forms of cancers possible. Not one of these hypocrites would deny themselves these cancer treatments and we all know it.

Let’s test them and see what they would say.they would do. This is a non issue just like the Republicans’ threats to ban birth control. It’s just a way for them to pander to their radical Far Right religious zealot base. We saw how they caved on gay marriage and the domestic terrorist flag.

Now conservatives are telling the American people that all medical research must stop?

Republicans may think they can backdoor Planned Parenthood in the same way as Acorn but they are sadly mistaken. This time they have threatened cancer treatments which hold out hope to the families of millions of Americans afflicted each year.

Conservatives are reviving their War on Medicine just like they did when Bush Jr. tried to forbid the use of all fetal tissue in research early in his administration. It was so insane and unpopular with the Silent Majority that he let it drop and never ever spoke of it again.

If Republicans want to make this their next abortion issue, it’s their funeral at the polls in 2016. The GOP would have us all living in caves again and eating insects off of each others backs before they would admit they are way off base questioning the ethics of medical researchers.

Teachers, police, nurses, fireman, medical researchers and college professors are all money- grubbing, union liberals who must be wiped out by the fire and brimstone of “religious liberty” fanatics? We’ll see about that.

Courage and convictions are great; they’re what should primarily drive one’s political actions.

At the same time, you can be right and courageous and lose an election to a bunch of ignorant cowards. Then you can scream with courageous conviction in front of a women’s health center as it gets bulldozed.

The game is there, and it’s being played, like it or not. If you can use your courage and convictions to help you play the game better than the other guy, you win in the best way. But if you lose, you just lose.

Being Pro-Abortion implies a belief that every embryo should be aborted.

There is no women’s rights group that is “pro- abortion”

Don’t be a dickhead
