Perhaps if I had said ādecent human beingsāā¦would that have helped make my point? The point is that this has gone from a call for justice to the heavy-handed authority of law enforcement on the streets to quell ill-intent by a handful of troublemakers. The focus has shifted in the reporting but the bottom line is that a young unarmed man was shot 6 times by a police officer, and 10 days later no justice, no peace, no charges.
Protestors are being villiainized by some idiots online and in the press, confusing them with small groups of outside agitators who are causing the police to react with an over-abundance of police force. This was all predictable from years of police action to ramp up crowd control using more and more force. These various police forces that have been called to Ferguson have used inconsistent methods at crowd dispersal, contradicting their own words at times, and confusing even the most ardent follower of 1st Amendment rights. Two examples worth mentioning leading to confusionā¦One now can protest but must keep movingā¦at least on Monday. Maybe Tues. will be different. Secondly, in an order by the police to leave an area, two routes of egress are cut off with teargas at the same time as the order goes out, the only two routes available to leave. Thatās just stupid shit.

Iām very impressed by the number of posters here on TPM who seem to have absolute, perfect knowledge of exactly what happened between Wilson and Brown. Perhaps those of you who are possessed of such certainty should volunteer to go before the grand jury. Iām sure theyād be thankful for the enlightenment you could provide.

Iām not sure if you understand our legal system. While you can argue heās done nothing to be convicted for, the idea that heās done nothing to be charged for is ludicrous. He shot an unarmed man six times including twice in the back. Even if you accept the dubious and uncorroborated assertion that Brown was trying to wrestle his gun from him, he still shot him six times including twice in the back. The court could well find him innocent but to not even have to stand trial is insanity.

If we donāt know whether he tried to take the gun, how do we know that walking on the street was the cause of his death?
I guess Iām just an idealist. I find it hard to believe that so many people are so infantile that they canāt have a back and forth discourse of differing opinions without behaving like a single-minded mob whose intentions are to censor anyone who doesnāt agree with them.
