Okay, I don’t mean to be flippant here, but what is it with the baseball caps in a national emergency? Is that the sign of seriousness? And how utterly repulsive is Rick Scott. I know, the bar is very high for an answer to that question.
I’m afraid this falls into the “No shit, Sherlock” category of observations. It is, however, almost refreshing in a Republican administration to have a FEMA director who is able to recognize the obvious. It is at least a change from the usual “The hurricane is a hoax perpetrated by the liberal media and the scientists. Nothing to be afraid of.”
I think it has become clear that God has decided subtly is wasted on us in regard to Global Climate Change and has pulled out the big guns…
And for all you Leviticus fans out there:
“The land shall not be sold in perpetuity, for the land is mine; with me you are but aliens and tenants. Throughout the land that you hold, you shall provide for the redemption of the land.” Leviticus 25:23-24
Well, either that, or someone somewhere baked a wedding cake for a gay wedding. It’s hard to decide.
The Republican position on climate change reminds me of an oncologist who encourages his patients to smoke, preferring to treat them afterwards, when they have advanced lung cancer. At which point little to nothing could be done beyond the palliative. A physician like that would/should lose his license.
… I know, but until Pat Robinson makes that call, I’m choosing to go with the more obvious answer.
Worst case scenario for places in its path. No shit! Way to say something while saying nothing at all.
In case no one has noticed, Brock Long is the only competent person Comrade Cockholster has appointed to any federal agency.
Sorry, you can’t bring up that stuff! After all, all of Leviticus has been superseded by the New Testament. Except, of course, for the anti-gay lines, which remain valid for all eternity.
Can we please get these news people indoors. I get it. This is a terrible storm. I see the pictures. Seek shelter. I flew out of Tampa Wednesday and the reporting was that Miami would take the brunt of it and Tampa Bay was on the fringe. Now it’s the opposite. They have made it a TV show and because of the predictions some may have felt safe to stay when they should have made other plans. Nothing succeeds like excess.
I don’t trust anyone who worked under Michael Brown at FEMA during the Bush administration.
Besides, I prefer Brock Samson to Brock Long.
I doubt that anyone who needs that advice still has electricity to hear it from you, Brock. Hopefully anyone who needed it, already got it elsewhere, yesterday or Friday.
This is the guy everyone in the media is praising as super-competent? I’m guessing that, since he’s a Republican, they must be using Michael Brown as the baseline.
So, according to God, we’re all undocumented aliens? I bet the fundies are gonna be shocked to hell to find out God’s a dirty hippie libtard.
I think in this administration a willingness to actually do the job you were hired for, and a modicum of experience in doing it, would make you a standout.
Anyway, if you’re of a mind, knock some wood for Tampa. If things go really wrong they could get 30+ foot storm surge and have half a million houses damaged.
At least someone who worked under Michael Brown at FEMA during the Bush administration knows what a hurricane looks like and what it can do. They may not know what to do about it, because they wouldn’t have learned that there, but at least they realize the destructive power of 150 mph winds. Knowing that much gives you a head start.
No more shocked than when they choose to ignore most of the Socialism in the book of Matthew in the New Testament.
Among the many suggestions Jesus makes:
“If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” Matthew 19:21
Anyone who reported that any part of Florida was on Irma’s “fringe” was grossly irresponsible. No matter where the eyewall landed, it was obvious that - given the vagaries of hurricane forecasting - anywhere in Florida could end up near enough to the middle of the storm to risk catastrophic consequences.
I think the real news here is:
"Trump Appointee Actually Does Job They Were Appointed To Do"
The people in the Red States must suffer for voting for politicians who deny climate change and who are against helping victims of earlier hurricanes. They need to be shocked into action.
