For guys with hair, working around the clock without showers in dirty, wet, windy conditions, it’s probably their best bet to look halfway camera-ready on short notice. Rick Scott is probably doing it because it’s become something of a media convention.
Or because water makes his head look shiny, er, shinier.
From what I understand, anyone who fills the position is now required by law to have a certain amount of relevant experience. Looking for a link now . . .
There’s only one time in my life where I’ve been more afraid. After my mother suddenly flatlined and then died. I’m so scared right now, y’all, I can’t even get my mind right. My best friend is in Tampa, his entire family, my family, is hunkered down. I’ve been crying all day. I’m just so scared.
No one is forecasting a 30+ foot storm surge, so cut the shit scare nonsense.
It’ll be bad enough.
Here’s the law you’re thinking of.
To all TV reporters dumb enough to stand out in the storm…
We get it…it’s a frigging hurricane
You can come inside now and dry off.
O plucky - I’m so sorry. I hate this for you -
Are they in a shelter?
“Storm surge has the highest potential to kill the highest amount of
people and cause the most amount of damage,” Long said. “If the water
starts to rise around you and you become isolated, try to get into a
facility that you think can withstand the winds and get elevated. Get
out of the storm surge.”
…
Trump said he’d hire the “best people” to inhabit his “administration”.
GEESH!!
So sorry. We have several friends who decided to stay and are now without power, and several more in the Tampa area. It is terrifying - I feel for you. Just be reassured that the vast majority of people will survive - that is what we are holding on to.
Will be watching for your posts
This is rather interesting:

But, hey, remember this?
The U.S. government has disposed of over 140,000 FEMA travel trailers purchased after Hurricane Katrina that were built and ordered for temporary housing but now labeled “not suitable for housing”. Many people have considered purchasing FEMA trailers to save money. Whether you choose to do business with us or someone else, please read the following information and educate yourself about FEMA trailers for sale.

Those were the ones that seeped formaldehyde gas from the walls and made everybody sick.

I’ve got two suggestions of my own. One is for you to become less uninformed by doing the reading I’m assigning here from [The Atlantic][1]:
If Irma’s path ticks a bit further to the west, then the aggravated storm-surge effects in Tampa Bay could be catastrophic. In 2010, Tampa officials and FEMA practiced preparation for “Hurricane Phoenix,” a fictitious category-five storm that would directly strike the city. In the scenario, a tropical cyclone approached the city from the south, trapping water in Tampa Bay and deluging the region with up to 30 feet of storm surge.
For context, a maximum of eight feet of storm surge was observed during Hurricane Sandy’s catastrophic flooding of Brooklyn and lower Manhattan.
And as Eric Holthaus writes at Rolling Stone, research from the past few years has suggested that the storm-surge estimates used in the “Hurricane Phoenix” exercise were perhaps six feet too conservative.
My other suggestion is to go to hell. I don’t just run my mouth about stuff, noob. I don’t much care what news you haven’t heard.

Oh my. Sending the best of thoughts for their safety.
More support for your post…
Great response @mattinpa. But methinks you’re talking to a troll.
Yes, Irma is most likely the worst thing that could happen to the entire state of Florida except another strongest ever hurricane and then another.
Possibly the only equal in terms of damaging effects is the braindead climate change denialism that is actually fueling the catastrophes even as they hit the very same deniers square in the face.
Cause and effect is a simple concept to understand. Intentional ignorance and the associated denial of that intentional ignorance is a much tougher nut to crack.
I was watching a guy in Miami this morning, thinking about your attitude, and chuckling. There he was, in the windy wind, the palm trees behind him bowing down as they always do, the inevitable street sign vibrating away just like the script calls for. It’s always the exact same image. But TV is images so out into the rain and wind you go, TV people. It’s a dramatic event but hard to film effectively when it’s happening. : (
Oh, trust me, it’s obviously our old non-friend back for another banning. But I thought I’d show him the danger of having the temerity to make a specific claim when he ain’t know shit about shit.
