Discussion: Feinstein And Harris: WH Didn't Consult Us On 3 California Judicial Nominees

Assley will slam through the Judiciary Committee. Turtle will slam them through the Senate.
Blue slips be damned.

The GOP is now rigging our courts.

Crooks have to lie, cheat, and steal.

“A letter sent to Committee Chairman Charles E. Grassley, an Iowa Republican, by the White House said it made a good faith effort…” and yet, “Feinstein’s office said [Bumatay’s] name was not among those initially proposed by the White House.”

Fascinating. “Good faith effort” now extends to the nomination of someone whose name wasn’t even on the list being negotiated?

I need some air. Gonna go open the Overton Window a little wider…

“We have made more attempts to consult and devoted more time to that state than any other in the country,” White House Counsel Donald McGahn wrote.

Gee,
CA is the 5th largest economy in the world.
CA has 12% of the US population.
Guess McGahn should spend more time on WY, AK, or ME, which are much more important states.
What a stupid comment by the WH counsel.

Feinstein should know, if anyone does, how much Trump loathes California, and that he will work furiously to undermine and destroy that liberal, and successfully liberal, state.

She ought to know the repug House & Senate are stacking the courts, and will not follow tradition or rules in their ongoing project to have 100% control of all 3 branches of the government.

Her expecting any type of “good faith” from faithless traitors is a good example of the weakness and laziness of the Democratic party.

Kamala Harris is anything but weak.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Senate voted 51-44 on Thursday to confirm another Trump nominee, Idaho attorney Ryan Douglas Nelson, to the 9th Circuit. He takes over a seat vacated by N. Randy Smith, an appointee of Republican President George W. Bush.

Only one Democrat, Doug Jones of Alabama, voted in favor of Nelson.

So, not that it would have made enough difference, but the math seems to indicate that several Dems were missing for the vote. Not so helpful.

They can complain until they’re blue in the face.

This behavior will only stop when the Republicans have been on the receiving end for a decade or three, and maybe not even then.

Ditto Feinstein. That woman has seen things that would bring any of the tough guys in the Senate to their knees. The women California sends to Washington tend to be tough, smart, and generally fearless. I’m sure someone could cite exceptions, but generally, I like knowing that the women we’ve elected have our backs. We’ve got some good men, too, but then there are those deep red pockets who send Nunes, Issa, Denham, and their ilk to balance things out.

Thank the assholes who stayed home to pragmatically make their principled statements.

The Democratic party is fucking useless and has been for years. Not a spine between any of them.

Yes. Jackie Speier is one of those I was thinking about when I said it.

Bad faith is a feature of the GOP since Reagan. Main players in that are Grassley and Hatch. Trump is a newbie but has not lived a good faith day in his entire fucking life.

Any given senator expects cooperation from the White House, a co-equal branch of government That they don’t even care to make a pretense shows how traitorous the administration is. In other words, don’t kill the messenger

Find a party with a spine and join it, then shut the fuck up about the Democratic party. Also read up on how the repubs suppress votes and voter turnout and ask yourself why they do that. But here’s part of the answer. The Rs are scared to death of the Democratic party being in charge of the government.

“I repeatedly told the White House I wanted to reach an agreement on a package of 9th Circuit nominees…”

Aaaah! I see her mistake, now: She persisted.
