What’s left of my memory … but I think that’s exactly the way Ellsberg did it, printed it out (Pentagon Papers) , put it in his briefcase and walked out of his day job at RAND Corp in CA(?). Goofy and daring at the same time. Whistleblowers have been paying for that embarrassment ever since.
