Good for them.

Carve outs shmarve outs. Affidavits or whatever just allows them to make the ballots of the “undesireables” more easily recognizable, gives them a justification for keeping them separate and we’ll be hearing about “missing boxes” and other bullshit in short order.

Isn’t this the case the 5th Circuit had slow walked? The Supreme Court gave them a deadline to decide it. They almost didn’t make it.

Simple solution.

Making voting in Texas color-based.

If you’re white, you can vote.

If you’re not, you can’t

Problem Solved. /s

Cue Dan Patrick having an attack of the vapors and collapsing on his fainting couch.

HA! HA!

Sucks to be texas!

That’s what they were going for…

Given the recalcitrance of the Fifth Circuit, this is probably the best that could be hoped for. It’s hardly a complete victory–the use of affidavits reduces the number of people who will go to the polls or actually vote–but it’s a step forward.

Great news. Now let’s see what workaround the TX R’s come up with. If they do, though, it becomes even more painfully obvious that this is about voter supression, not prevention of fraud.

Next up for the Lone Star State - voting locations by party.

Republican voting locations will be in the usual places - schools, churches and public buildings.
Democratic voting locations will be next to abortion clinics.

Live in El Paso and have to drive to San Antonio to vote? Sorry.

I’m thinking he’s more of a hissy fit sort of creature, pounding pillows and threatening to hold his breath until the colors are prevented from voting/

Well good.

Not like I expect Texass to come up with an appropriate remedy by November though, even if the court tells them to.

Oh no. Hope the court okayed the part of the Texas law that gave the vote to Labrador Retrievers…

One Person, One Vote - Unless you live here in Texas and are a person of color or something other than pure. Even living here in Austin, our island of Blue in a Sea of Red, gets harder and harder.

I am stunned the 5th Circuit made this ruling. They are usually a rubber stamp for Gov. Abbot, Lt. Gov. Patrick and our own indicted Attorney General, Paxton.

Maybe, just maybe, there is still hope . . .

The remedy will be to fill out a form or affidavit and those forms will somehow not show up in sufficient quantities on Election Day. But voters can file a provisional ballot that will certainly still be counted as long as they visit the election clerk’s office between 8:15 and 8:27 on the first fifth Wednesday following the election to fill out the affidavit.

Trump practically did. He says he will “purge” Obama’s federal appointees…
