Discussion: FBI Agent: Federal Investigators May Have Learned Of Manafort Storage Unit From AP Reporters

This guy knew how to keep nothing secret. Like all the Trump gang, they are cocky and arrogant, and even boast about their crimes. Mueller’s team has lots of evidence, but still lots of people to talk to, and those people have no idea what is known or not known (maybe Rummy can help them on that). So they may be in a position where they either risk lying to federal investigators (felony), or joining the choir. I suspect most will learn to sing.

I wishvi was smart enough to understand what this means. Can someone please enlighten me?

“The FBI may have been tipped off to the possibility that Manafort maintained storage lockers after an April meeting with four Associated Press reporters.”

Well, Trump’s brief pause in calls for violence against journalists was nice while it lasted…

Why would this matter in this case? So long as they legally obtained access to the storage unit–and they did have the okay of the guy whose name was on the lease and he had a key–why would it matter if they discovered the storage unit’s existence through a discussion with an AP reporter?

Ok, I see how a media outlet tipping off the FBI about Manafort’s storage unit will fit into the narrative within the fever swamps, but is there anything untoward or potentially illegal about this? My sense is that Mueller wouldn’t jeopardize his case with ill-begotten evidence and it sounds like his team interviewed the parties involved and thought it ok to proceed.

It means Manafort’s lawyers are being paid vast sums of money to throw one desperate Hail Mary after another.

Paul Manafort…they made all their money as part of the Mafia operation in New Britain, Conn. and controlling the trash disposable business in the state. The Manafort’s have been a leading crime family in Conn. for years where they owned both Democrats and Republicans…but especially the local police. Trump has known the Manafort family over several decades…both are members of the crime syndicate. How do you think Trump got Casinos in Atlantic City…you have to be a member of the mob.

This explains why Trump hates the media.

“Pfeiffer said there were four AP reporters present, but did not remember their names.”

Good man. Four people just avoided death threats, harassment and potential violence towards them and their families.

Manafort’s lawyers are arguing that any of the documents seized from the storage unit are “fruits from a poisoned tree” that wouldn’t have been discovered had the FBI not “broken the rules”.

So the Mueller team was showing that everything was logically and legally discovered and would have inevitably been found… from the where the initial lead for looking at storage lockers came from to the leases to the named persons on the lease with access to the search warrant.

Why does the judge so often seem pissed off at the Mueller team? If the investigation shows Manafort allegedly committed crimes, why would it matter if Mueller is ultimately going after Trump? Is Mueller supposed to ignore evidence of criminal activity? I don’t understand what’s going on here.

Exactly! Isn’t it still called the Federal Bureau of INVESTIGATION? Shouldn’t they investigate every lead?
