Discussion: Extremists Begin To Howl Over Trump's Erractic Lurching On Immigration

Howl ? ? … alrighty then…

Chickens coming home —

“Erratic.” TPM’s full of mispellings these days.

millenials are not that stupid

“But most of Trump’s supporters say at the end of the day they’re willing to give him the benefit of the doubt…”
Because they have nowhere else to go.

Damn! Tierney’s by far my favorite author at TPM because of her comprehensive reporting combined with utter clarity that is usually error-free, but this piece has more editing errors in one piece than I’ve seen in everything else I’ve read here in the past month!

Great piece after my mind fills in all the bloody corrections and occasional missing words. Just ONE reread before posting? Please???

“I hope there isn’t a shift, because this is a position that he has gained a very considerable amount of support,” Jared Taylor, founder of the white supremacist magazine American Renaissance, told TPM Wednesday. “Many Americans are very tired of the idea that anyone who manages to waltz across the border can stay, and a candidate who is willing to says, ‘No you can’t stay’ has a great deal of appeal for Americans who care about their country.

Folks like Taylor,Duke,Coulter, etc would have never backed Trump, if they felt that he was a political chameleon on this issue. To them, its either ‘deportation’ (good) or ‘amnesty’ (bad) in regards to this issue.

Anyhow, its nice to know that immigration reform will be making its proud return on that autopsy report.

yes they do have a place to go to: home.

He’s so screwed by the polls. So predictable…so typical of a politician what his next move would be but to no avail.

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
“Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!” cries she
With silent lips. “Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”

Where does it say, “but you can’t stay”?

ETA: going by some responses… This is the full poem on the base of the Statue of Liberty, most people just know the last bit

"He needs to make it [mass deportations] palatable to the millennials, so toning it down is fine with me.”

Yes, in much the same way Wilhem Marr coined “antisemitism” to make it more scientific sounding than plain, ole “judenhass.”

Awww, it’s just words. /s

Gee, I guess the crazies have noticed the ‘pivot’.

Is it wrong that I’m smiling?

His weird alt-right creepy culty supporters will still back him because they don’t think he really means it. They are fine with him saying whatever to win. That’s the mindset he’s attracted; the people that get off on him being a bully, acting like a spoiled fratboy, calling names, all the lies, putting down anyone that he thinks deserves it. Trump was 100% right when he said:

“I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters,” he said.

They will overlook this latest flip flop, like they do all the other dumb shit he’s said and done.

It is quite fun to see him flail on this issue though.

“Optimistic” white nationalists maybe, but angry white nationalists could make Donald a hunted manimal…

“Waltz across the border”! I want to smack his smug little face. Or better yet, set his lilly white ass down in the desert and see how he fares.

“He hasn’t reached out to anyone who advocates for European interests,” Damigo told TPM.

Trump: “OK, but only the dagos and the frogs.”

So now he’s the “compassionate deporter”. Or something.

Wingnuttia can’t have any of this compassion crap like Dumbya fooled people with.

I’ve been popping into Trump’s Reddit lately to see whether his seeming shift has ignited any upset, but so far I see very little of note. As you indicate above in the story Tierny, Trump’s followers (and I don’t want to generalize too much here) seem to have a thick hide when it comes to seeming Trump swivels on policy.

I have noted earlier, that Trump holds so many positions on issues that his followers can easily seize on the one they think best matches their views and dismiss all the other ones as just , “Trump being Trump. We know what he REALLY believes and what he will do as President.”

That gives them the rationale to continue their support even when he suddenly comes up with an apparently flip-floop like his latest on immigration policy.

Donald doesn’t hold many of his policies tightly. So often it appears that when he responds to a question, he simply reacts right then as if it is the first time he was ever asked to state a position. Out it blurts and suddenly Lewandowski, and then Manafort and now Kellyanne find themselves having to try and scramble and put the best spin on his latest switch.

Go ahead Donald. Keep being Donald. Don’t let that teleprompter hem you in!

"The ONLY way he can win this election is by running on immigration and rallying the white base.”

“The ONLY way he can win this election is by running from the white base and rallying on immigration.”

curious, how both are impossible.
