Sept, 2015, Greitens announces official start of campaign. Runs as “husband, father, Navy SEAL.”
Oct, 2015, Woman emails Greitens, tells him to stop coming by
Dec. 2015, woman and husband file for divorce
Nov, 2016, Greitens elected Governor

Given that bondage and blackmail was involved in the affair Eric Greitens was having, I loved the clarity and specificity with which TPM explained the slap:
The woman who had an affair with Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens in 2015 told her then-husband that Greitens slapped her against her will, after she told Greitens she had had sex with her husband.

Presumably, this was the crucible that formed his Republican character. In a camera’s flash he realized the emptiness of virtue – ethics undergrad at Duke, Rhodes Scholar, four tours of duty as a Navy SEAL, founded a nonprofit helping veterans, second marriage in 2011. This affair was in July 2015 and he surprised everyone by declaring as a Republican in September.

Late Wednesday, Greitens admitted in a statement that he had conducted the affair but denied allegations that he blackmailed the woman into silence by taking a nude photo of her while her arms were bound by tape to exercise equipment in his basement.
