Discussion: Ex-Ambassador To Israel: Huckabee Remark Similar To 'Incitement' That Led To Yitzhak Rabin Assassination

Discussion for article #238837

“Despite strong condemnations of his remarks, Huchabee has refused to apologize for or back down from comments he made about the Iran nuclear deal on Saturday.”

And he won’t. That’s the playbook for the GOP this campaign, writ large by Trump. Say something, anything, outrageous, and then refuse to apologize to show how strong you are in your convictions.

Yea…good luck with that retraction.

Huckleberry is only saying what Donald’s audience wants to hear. He needs the attention to keep fleecing the rubes…err, stay in the race…and the only way to do that in today’s TP-run GOP is to peg the ODS-outrage meter.

C’mon, The Pious, Charitable and ever sooooo Reverend Hukabuk has a $3,000,000 Florida house to pay for. It would be a small thing if anyone had to die so the payments could be made.

If Huck is forced out because of this, who gains the debate stage Carly Fiorina or Lord Valdemort?

“Mr. Huckabee has crossed a very serious line here…Every Republican candidate should stand up, condemn this and ask him to retract it.”

Damn, I really hope Donald Trump does run as an Independent – and draws a very decent chunk of the GOP base. It will only serve to make the GOP candidates continue saying the most far-out bat guano stuff.

On what Huckabee said, yes, Mr. Kurtzer is correct here when he said Huckabee’s comments are incitement. I just hope some random nut out there doesn’t take Huck up on the offer.

Well, I believe equal rights and stuff like that would dictate they give iCarly a chance to make a fucking fool of herself at the front of the stage where the men folk have been hogging the cameras and microphones. It’s only fair – and I’ll bet she quite capable, too.

Let’s keep things in perspective here. If it gets Huckabee into the debate, then it’s all worth it.

This is indeed madness. Apparently, some GOP Presidential candidates will stop at nothing to distinguish themselves from each other.

In a perverse way, Huckabee might have done more to help ensure Congress doesn’t reject the deal (not that they can actually stop it).

If you accept the idea that Iran is going to get a nuke, then use it on Isreal, then Huckabee’s bombastic statement is actually follows that “logic”.

If you condemn his outrageous analogy, you are admitting that Iran is not getting a nuclear weapon and would not use it on Israel. So opposing the deal is not actually based on the position that you honestly think Iran would get and use a nuclear weapon against Israel.

Let’s face it. The Clown Car is full, and with Trump doing the driving the only way for any of them to catch a breath is to say something even more outrageous than the driver. They’re in a race to see who can be the most extreme, so every little opportunity matters. Huck’s campaign is gasping…he’s in trouble, he’s running out of money, and he’s languishing in the lowest single digits…so he’s got to do something. Anything! He needs the attention, and the only way to break through the Trump bombast is to out-Trump Trump.

True that.

Especially the “say” part.

Verbal bravado (“doubling-down”, “not backing down”, etc). is a grift-device

With his piggybacking for dramatic effect the actual suffering of real live Holocaust victims, Huckabee has disqualified himself for President–and I hope this latest hyperbole of his (along with his non-apology) loops in perpetuity, as a symbol of what we are all going through right now.

With Huckabee, I think it’s more likely he won’t walk back the remarks because the eruption of violence in Israel is exactly what he’s looking for. The Evangelical trips to Israel are all sprinkled with the coming war between the righteous and the minions of the Anti-Christ that will kick off the second coming of Christ. I wish I thought this was a joke, but there’ s an entire branch of wingnut Christians who buy into this shit and even set up their own centers in Jerusalem.

More than capable, as she has demonstrated to any board foolish enough to hire her for an actual job.

Well, if you look at things he has said in the past, this is just normal behavior for him - seriously.

HuckaBuck thinks anything he disagrees with is a Holocaust. He uses it all the time.

This is the first time I’m aware of that he has used the “oven” imagery though.
I’m betting it won’t be the last.

Republicans have been crossing this line since January 20, 2009. They’ll keep crossing it until a Republican is elected President, and then we can all go back to agreeing that Hitler analogies should be off-limits.

Just a reminder- Move on (dot) org contest participants and MSNBC interns are held to higher standards than prominent Republican candidates for President. I believe this is what some people might refer to as the soft bigotry of low expectations.
